zZounds Gear Experts Say...
4 types of digital effects. 7 input channels. 3-band EQ on each input channel.
Overview
Since its introduction in 1998, the Powerpod740 (previously called Powerpod7) has proved to be an excellent choice for musicians and venues alike. The Powerpod740 offers power and flexibility that can withstand 'life on the road'. Two separate 200 watt amplifiers enable the user to configure the output in three different ways, either Main + Main, Main + Monitor or Main only (Bridged operation, 400W). The Powerpod740 has all the patching necessary to connect you to more amplifiers and an external processor or to accept more inputs via another mixer when circumstances require.
Features:
Built-in 200W + 200W/4Ohm. Amplifier which can be selected as Main+Main, Main+Monitor or Main only (bridged operation, 400W/8 Ohms)
4 types of digital effects allow you to add reverb or ambiance to the mix
7 input channels compatible with mic/line level(channels 5-7 accept stereo line inputs)
3-band EQ on each input channel
2 built-in limiters prevent excessive input levels to amp modules
Dual 7-band graphic equalizers are available for both main and monitor mixes
Switchable global phantom power for all mic input connectors
Effect out for external signal processing
Tape in and out (via RCA/phono connectors) allows for connection of a tape/CD player without taking up a main input channel

"A lot of bang for your buck!"
Very satisfied. I was leary about trying a "no-name", "generic" P.A. system. After trying it though, I was pleasently surprised.
Sound
Really decent little P.A. for the price. Of course, we would all prefer Mackie or something. This little unit gives alot of bang for the buck. Nice smooth, clear onboard reverbs. It also has an effects loop which isn't that common on lower priced units.
Features
It's got the same features as alot of the higher end units do. I knew I wanted a combo P.A. instead of mixer and seperate power amps. I didn't need anything really huge. Before buying though, I rented several P.A. systems from the local music store. I rented a Yamaha, Peavey, and even a Mackie. I then rented a Phonic and I must say, for the money, the differences are negligable. Did I mention this unit is less that half the price of the other units? lol
Quality
Made as well as any other unit I have tried and I've tried MANY. I would have prefered Tolex over the fur covering, but that's about it. The 2 built in cooling fans are a nice touch. I've used it to provide music for a bikini bike wash where it was running flat out for over 8 hours without a glitch.
Value
Alot of bang for your buck.
Manufacturer Support
N/A - I've never had a problem, therefore no reason to need their customer support.
The Wow Factor
THey all look alike to me.
Musical Background:
Mutt - a little from all catagories. Formerly active, always a hobbyist, sometimes recording engineer, occasionally band direct
Musical Style:
Rock period. Any form of it - Ultimately, ROCK!
