Fender '68 Custom Deluxe Reverb Guitar Combo Amplifier

The Fender '68 Custom Deluxe Reverb packs 22 watts into two channels: "Vintage" for the rich sound of the original, and "Custom" for modern high-gain tones.
As one of Fender's recently re-issued Custom Series "silverface" amplifiers, the '68 Custom Deluxe Reverb guitar combo amp celebrates the landmark year when Fender brought the electric guitar amplifier into new sonic territory. Like the legendary original, this '68 Custom Deluxe Reverb delivers killer tube-driven tone and a truly classic look.

22 Watts Through a 12" Celestion Speaker

The '68 Custom Deluxe series has a single 12-inch Celestion that moves a little more air than the 10-inch speaker on the re-issued '68 Princeton Reverb. This makes the Deluxe as great for powerful solos as it is for chordal and rhythm parts. When you run it clean, it has a shimmer and clarity that is rich in color and overtones. When you push the gain, you'll immediately open up a world of crunch tone that sounds good no matter where you've got it set.

Four Discrete Inputs On Two Channels

The '68 Custom Deluxe Reverb is a true 2-channel amplifier, with "Custom" and "Vintage." Each section has two 1/4-inch inputs that can be used individually or in tandem, giving you a total of FOUR inputs on a single amplifier.

The "Custom" section keeps things no frills with Volume, Treble, and Bass knobs to shape your tone. Over in the "Vintage" section, things get interesting with Volume, Treble, Bass, and Reverb knobs. This amp also comes with a true tube-driven Tremolo section with Speed and Intensity controls.

All-Tube Complement

The '68 Custom Deluxe Reverb gets its unmistakable read more sound from 4 x 12AX7 and 2 X 12AT7 preamp tubes. 2 x 6V6 power tubes amplify this vintage sound to give you a notably powerful 22 watts of power. A single 12-inch Celestion G12V-70 moves plenty of air and completes the overall tonal equation of this amp. With its smaller size and manageable output, the '68 Custom Deluxe Reverb allows you to push the preamp as far as you like without becoming excessively loud.

Eternally Cool "Silverface" Design

1968 was also a year that Fender nailed a truly timeless aesthetic, creating a look that has stood the test of time. The black textured vinyl covering is contrasted with a silver-turquoise grille cloth that immediately achieves a classic look. Meanwhile, the famous aluminum drip edge grille cloth trim that looks as distinguished onstage as always. The blue jewel pilot light glows as beautifully as ever, while the skirted control knobs pop with their elegant nickel-plated caps.

Fender '68 Custom Deluxe Reverb

1968 was a transitional year for Fender amps, with tone that was still pure Fender but a look that was brand new. With a silver-and-turquoise front panel and classy aluminum "drip edge" grille cloth trim, the Fender Deluxe Reverb received a fresh face as it remained the ideal recording and performing amp. Small, light and moderately powered, it produced big tube tone, with worldclass Fender reverb and vibrato effects. For countless guitarists ever since, the Deluxe Reverb has been the go-to amp for classic Fender sound.

The '68 Custom Deluxe Reverb Amp pays tribute to the classic look, sound and performance of Fender's late-'60s "silverface" amps. In a special twist, both channels boast reverb and tremolo, and the "custom" channel has a modified Bassman tone stack that gives modern players greater tonal flexibility with pedals. The amp also features quicker gain onset and reduced negative feedback for greater touch sensitivity. The '68 Custom Deluxe Reverb's single 12" Celestion G12V-70 speaker also delivers a more distinctively rock 'n' roll flavor.

"68' Custom Deluxe Reverb"

Let me start by saying I used to own the 65' reissue DR. This thing blows that out of the water. Finally no ice pick like highs, smooth mids and nice natural overdrive with out having to dime it like the 65'. Also, finally they let you have reverb and trem on both channels. The Celestion V type is awesome. Such a good speaker for the money. Blows that Italian Jenson out of the water. I never understood why they put a 100 watt speaker in a 22 watt amp. This thing sings and screams. Takes all my pedals extremely well. What ever issues they were having with hissing and reverb tank when these first came out has been taken care of. Thats kind of why I waited to get one. Great amp. Everthing from jazz to blues to rock. And when used with the right pedals anything harder you wish to play. Very touch responsive amp. And very warm sounding. Breaks up really nice around 6 so you still have headroom. Love this thing. Thanks zZounds!
