Beyerdynamic M 201 TG Small-Diaphragm Dynamic Microphone

With the SPL handling and off-axis rejection of a dynamic, and clarity of a condenser, the super-flat M 201 TG mic shines on snare, guitar cabs, and voice!

As a member of the M series, the M 201 TG embodies natural sound reproduction like no other dynamic microphone. It reproduces signals with exceptional clarity and detail. These are the qualities that have led many people to select the M 201 TG as an alternative to condenser microphones and enabled them to enjoy the strengths of the dynamic pendant. The M 201 TG is a one-of-a-kind member of the microphone market, the result of this unique combination and the high-quality workmanship that defines beyerdynamic as an enterprise.

In the studio or on stage -- the precise sound reproduction that is brought to life by the remarkable linear frequency response of the M 201 TG generates an exact signal. It is a signal that makes itself heard in the mix and opens up a world of post-production opportunities. The small design of M 201 TG also enables the microphone to be easily positioned and gives artists the support they need in their quest to create perfect sound.

I've used and/or owned many of the standards in this category, all good mics, but this Beyerdynamic is something special. I have used this mic for vocals, acoustic guitar and mandolin, and I don't have to do a thing with EQ. It just sounds natural, doesn't have any weird peaks, has better sibilance resistance (for my voice) and it's *small* and easy to place anywhere. Yes, it's a bit spendy for a dynamic mic, but for me, it's so good and fast to use with no wasted time in mixing and fiddling to get the right sound, I wish I'd had one of these years ago. (I have not needed manufacturer support, but have used this company for headphones and they've been outstanding, so gave it a 5 there, too.)
