Rupert Neve Designs RNDI-S Stereo Active Transformer DI Box

Hey, this is Andrew with zZounds, and here are some things to know about the Rupert Neve Designs RNDI Stereo DI Box.

On the front, you have two inputs, two throughputs, as well as a toggle switch for the 3.5mm (1/8-inch) input, and XLR outputs with ground lift switches—which is super handy. It's also really nice to have a 3.5mm input on the front. If you want to use that, you just flip the switch up to 3.5mm. If you want to sample or capture audio from a phone or an iPad, I've used it to capture audio from a Nintendo 3DS. There are tons of smaller tabletop synthesizers that don’t have quarter-inch outputs—just 3.5mm—so having that input on the front is really cool. That means I don’t need to go digging through bins for adapters, splitter cables, or any other weird solutions. I can just plug a 1/8-inch cable directly into my audio source.

Having the through outputs here is also really cool, and it’s a time-saver in some ways because you can do things like record a dry DI guitar tone into the input while taking that throughput to essentially clone the signal. Maybe send that through some effects pedals and then have it come back into the second input so you can record a dry and wet DI guitar signal at the same time.

I love this DI box. It’s great—I have it hooked up all the time. The only reason it’s not hooked up right now is that I’m showing it to you! Anytime I need to capture DI guitar, record synthesizers, or run anything that’s not being captured read more with a microphone, it’s going through this.

There’s not too much going on here—it’s a DI box—but having features like the through outputs, the 3.5mm input, and the ground lift switches really set it apart from a standard DI. With a sturdy aluminum enclosure, high-quality components, and made in the USA, it’s a staple for me.

I did many tests comparing my signal using No DI, Radial DI, and Neve DI. The results were staggering. Even Radial pales in comparison. Clarity, & detail you have to hear to truly believe. Makes my Prophet 10 soar. The neve DI is the one teammate that makes every teammate around them play better. Most important piece of gear I own.
