Audix Corporation, the industry leader in drum and percussion microphones, proudly introduces the latest addition to the D series of professional instrument microphones, the D6.

In classic Audix style, the D6 will not disappoint anyone looking for a huge, clean, undistorted kick drum sound. The D6 is about twice the size of the normal D series microphone, and yet it is extremely easy to use and position. Utilizing the same low profile mounting clip as the D series mics, the D6 will work with the Dvice and D-flex clips, as well as a variety of other popular clips on the market.

The D6 has a frequency response of 30 Hz - 15 kHz and is characterized with a cardioid pick-up pattern. The D6 is designed to sound good in any position and it is not dependent on finding the "sweet spot" of the drum. The D6 capsule features the same legendary VLM technology that has made the D series percussion and instrument microphones very popular for today's live stages and recording studios.

Audix Percussive Arts Specialist, Rob Schnell, says, "Our customers have been asking for a large format kick drum mic for some time now, and it's no secret that we've been working on the D6. When we sent the prototypes out to artists and engineers, nobody wanted to give them back! The end result is a conveniently sized mic with the big sound that drummers want. With the addition of the D6, the D series is now a complete solution for all professional drum-related miking."

The D6 includes a cordura pouch and nylon mic stand adapter.

"if everyone else bought a beta52 does that mean you would too?"
Sound: I have not done side by side comparisons of bass drum mics, but purchased the D6 based on a recommendation and lots of internet research. I have been able to get very different and very good sounds by altering placement of the mic. Inside my 18x20 maple bass drum the mic picks up good attack and plenty of low end punch. Feature: It comes with a quality mic clip, thread adapter and a padded pouch which is all you could really ask for. Quality: The mic is machined out of a solid piece of aluminum. There is nothing to rattle and I'm sure it is quite durable, though I don't plan on testing this theory. Value: It's ten bucks more than a beta52 and same price as a D112, sounds great and seems like a winner. Manufacturer Support: I have had no need to contact customer support thus far. Overall: Although I don't have experience with other dedicated bass drum mics, I know what good audio sounds like. This is a quality product made in the USA and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

Sound: This mic is good on more than just bass drum. I've found many uses for the Audix D6. Hooray Audix! Feature: Pouch and clip. Ease of Use: Easy to get a nice kick sound. Also good on open back guitar amps-mic the speakers as normal in front, then mic the rear of the cab/speaker with the D6. Works for me, especially on a Deluxe Reverb or a Mesa 2x12 open back can. Quality: Heavy. Value: Best $200 I've spent in a great while. Manufacturer Support: dunno The Wow Factor: Yup. Overall: Kick ass mic. Buy one or two.
