Vox AC15 Custom Guitar Combo Amplifier (15 Watts, 1x12")

The Vox AC15 Custom offers chiming, classic Vox tone. With Normal and Top-Boost channels, plus spring reverb, this tube amp will take you back to the '60s.
The Vox AC15C1 Custom 15-watt combo amplifier puts authentic vintage tone in your hands without breaking the bank! Based on the more-than-legendary Vox AC15 amplifier that was introduced in 1958, this sweet combo is ready to produce the clear, chiming tones that have seduced guitarists for more than a half century. And when you're ready to get crunchy, the AC15C1 will break up in a glorious way without becoming deafeningly loud.

Two Killer Channels: Normal and Top-Boost

The versatility of the Vox AC15C1 Custom combo amp lies in its two separate input channels: Normal and Top-Boost. The Normal channel immediately delivers the warm, classic sound that you recognize from countless famous recordings from the 1960s and beyond. When you're done recreating the guitar sounds heard on Rubber Soul, plug into the Top Boost section and get a distinctive tone that benefits from the highly musical Treble and Bass controls. Each of these two channels is equipped with its own Volume control as well.

Taking your tonal crafting power even further, you'll find Tone Cut and Volume controls in the Master section. Tone Cut works by modulating the signal passing through the power stage yielding a darker, richer tone. Then, you'll find yet another level of tone control playing with the balance between the Master Volume control and the individual Volume knobs on each channel.

One Killer Celestion G12M Greenback Speaker

A Vox amplifier wouldn't be complete without its distinctively designed preamp with read more 3 x 12AX7 tubes, and the famous 12-inch Celestion G12M Greenback speaker. No less essential to this tone is the authentic spring reverb, giving you everything from a shallow roomy verb to a far bigger and more expansive sound a la The Ventures or Dick Dale. The final element in the Vox AC15C1's unique tonal character is its famous Tremolo, with adjustable Rate and Depth. Both the Reverb and the Tremolo can also be controlled with the optional VOX VFS2 footswitch (not included), allowing you to turn the Reverb and Tremolo effects on and off as you play.

Vox AC15 Custom Guitar Combo Amplifier

First introduced in 1958, the AC15 combo has been the amp of choice for countless guitar players throughout the world. Drawing on more than 50 years of amp-building expertise, the AC15C1 Custom Series offers maximum tonal dexterity.

An Evolution in Tone
VOX Custom Series amps offer two channels: Normal and Top-Boost. Each channel is equipped with its own Volume control, and the Top Boost channel offers highly interactive Treble and Bass tone controls. This powerful channel pairing provides an abundance of tone-crafting control, letting you dial in a classic sound that is all your own.

Both channels rely on the Tone Cut and Volume controls in the Master section. The Tone Cut control operates in the power stage rather than the preamp stage, allowing an additional degree of tone-shaping. The Master Volume control works in conjunction with the individual volumes of each channel to create just the right degree of gain-staging. By balancing the individual and Master volumes, the Custom Series can deliver everything from a clean VOX "chimey" sound to a powerful overdriven tone.

Sound in Motion
You can sweeten the sound of your Custom Series amplifier using the VOX Classic Tremolo effect. Both the speed and the depth are adjustable, allowing you to generate just the sound you want. A warm Spring Reverb is also included on all Custom Series amps, adding spaciousness to the sound. All Custom Series amps can use the VOX VFS2 footswitch, allowing you to turn the Reverb and Tremolo effects on and off as you continue to play.

Power Sharing
The AC15C1 combo makes use of 3 x 12AX7 preamp tubes and uses pair of EL84 tubes to drive a single 12-inch Celestion G12M Greenback. All models in the Custom Series offer a switchable 8/16 ohm output jack for powering an external speaker cabinet when you need to speak with a little more authority; using this jack will mute the internal speakers. Additionally, a 2nd extension speaker jack allows you to run an extra 16 ohm cabinet along with the internal speakers for a fuller sound.

"Wow!!!! I love my new Vox"
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
I've been playing guitar for almost 23 years and like most I started out with what I could afford working my way up. I had never tested the waters of tube amps and I've always owned combos and just use pedals etc. to try and achieve the tube sound. I was playing 4 & 5 times per month and then I took time off from my music for several years and sold a lot of my equipment. I purchased a Fender Frontman 2x12 and a couple individual pedals just to use to play around the house thinking I wouldn't be gigging again. I happened to play a friend's Fender Blues Jr. Tweed and fell in love with the tone and I had to have one but I always research things before I purchase and I'm glad that I did. I had never played a Vox before and after I plugged it in and let the tubes warm up, WOW!!!!! It has an almost sparkle tone to it and when you turn your volume knob on your guitar, this thing will bite. I'm hooked and the wattage is plenty for me because I'm going to mic everything else anyway and I can't stand playing with other musicians who need to crank their equipment wide open on stage (even when its running through the PA. Don't let the wattage scare you, this thing has plenty of power and I would never need anything more than this. If you're on the fence about buying one, do it! I took advantage of the zZounds payment plan which makes it really nice! Love Vox and love zZounds!!!!
