From Our Catalog
The legendary SP 5 has been a mainstay enclosure for more than two decades. Peavey's engineering team has completely redesigned this new SP 5 making it lighter weight and more robust sounding than ever. This two-way full range enclosure will easily handle 800 Watts of program power and peaks up to 1600 Watts. Featuring a 15 in. Scorpion Plus woofer with field replaceable basket, the SP 5 delivers plenty of bone-crushing bottom end while the exclusive Quadratic Throat Waveguide technology dramatically reduces horn distortion offering a much clearer sound that aims sound directly at the audience, not over their heads. Constructed of birch ply with carpet covering, the SP 5 is ready for just about any road gig or permanent install.

Peavey SP5 2-Way PA Cabinet (800 Watts, 15 in.) Reviews

45 People rated this product :
           7 out of 10
           10 out of 10
"Peavey is the best"
Feature:
Quality drivers, awsome cabinets (baltic birch is the best), and of course incredible sound quality.

Quality:
Peavey really does make some of the best sounding audio gear. They don't get the rep they sould for sound quality, I've played through Yamaha, JBL, mackie, just about every PA you can think of, and Peavey products sound just as good.

Value:
With the same drivers they use in their QW series speakers, and baltic birch cabs, these speakers should easily be twice the price.

Desirability:
I own it

Sound:
Wow. These speakers if powered with a good amp (i use a behringer 2500) and a great mixer (PV 14 mixer) put out incredible sound quality, and lots of it too. The components in these cabs are top of the line. The RX22 compression drivers (tweeters) in these speakers are the same ones they put in the ultra high end QW series speakers. I play an acoustic drum kit (mapex saturn pro), but I also have a roland td-6 electronic kit. So sometimes I'll mix a few electronic pads in with my acoustic kit, and the sound is just amazing. JBL's are great speakers also, but you have to spend at least 429 duckets to get decent ones. If you don't want to go with high priced JBLs, that don't handle as much power and virtually sound the same, go with peavey. Plus these are easily the best looking cabinets money can buy, period (the pictures don't do them justice).

Ease of Use:
Just throw them on stands and plug em' in. They also are easily daisy chained. They only weigh like 50 pounds, which is nothing compared to most 80 lb cabs out there.

Support:
I gave it a ten because you won't every need it with peavey products.

Overall:
I would never buy anything else, except for JBL srx series speakers.

"you will be satisfied"
Feature:
the one cool thing about these speakers is that you can run them full range or bi-amped. i recommend bi amping because you can really get those rx22's and scorpians pushing their full potential. at first i quickly set them up fullrange but i was unable to get a sound i really liked. i then hooked them up to the dbx crossover and wow they really pushed.

Quality:
this product has the legendary peavey construction. after a few years of hard use, some of the carpet will start peeling. slap on some carpet glue and you will be set. it will be hard for you to blow these out, but if you do all the are easily exchangable.

Value:
it would be wise to spend the money on these speakers and have them last rather than buying crate or behringers that are cheaper and will need replaced within the year.

Desirability:
these speakers have a sharp look to them.

Sound:
These speakers have have a pretty tight sound. the rx22 horn drivers will blow away most others out on the market. i have used these for both live sound and DJ'ing. when i was doing live sound i used a mackie ma-2500 for the power and when i was djing i used a Crest CA-12 both are very clean power amps. I also used a DBX 223xl crossover because i ran them bi-amped. in both enviroments these speakers really rocked.

Support:
I have never had to deal with the support.

Overall:
as long as these speakers are pumping i will be happy with them. they have so many different uses. you can set them up for side-fills stage monitors, djing or main speakers.
