Seymour Duncan Dino Cazares 7-String Machete Electric Guitar Pickup

zZounds Gear Experts Say...
Previously only found in Dino Cazares' signature Ormsby guitars, the Seymour Duncan Machete humbucker is ready to help your 7-string slash through the mix.

Fear Factory's Dino Cazares has spent decades defining the sonic assault of industrial metal, and his tone continues to evolve. The Machete, previously exclusive to Dino's signature Ormsby(R) guitars, is finally available everywhere from Seymour Duncan. This active humbucker in a passive mount delivers aggressive clarity and crushing power, engineered for players who demand articulation and low-end definition without sacrificing organic feel.

The Dino Cazares Machete Signature Humbucker delivers the razor-sharp attack and punishing crunch his music demands. Built on the foundation of the acclaimed Retribution model, the Machete channels that articulation into a distinct voice. Treble bite and low-mid thickness combine for an immediate, aggressive attack perfect for machine-gun picking, tight chugs, and searing leads. The Machete retains an organic character that responds dynamically to your playing, delivering punchy aggression with definition.

If you've been craving fierce, articulate power that cuts through the heaviest mix while maintaining note clarity, the Machete delivers. It's the pickup that powers Dino's relentless riffing on Fear Factory's latest material, and now it can power your playing. Load it into your guitar and discover the sound that drives one of modern metal's most uncompromising players.

I bought this pickup a few days ago and had it installed yesterday. I'd have to say that it does lack some low end. Like something is missing. I guess that's what they meant by low-mid or whatever.. either way, I was just trying to find a pickup that fit in my guitar since I can't fit regular actives in it. I don't like the idea of dremeling in to my guitars so I thought I'd try this one. The square piece under the pickup was in the way so I had to dremel out part of the cavity anyway.. I thought it was a direct flush fit. I was wrong. It doesn't sound bad though. I prefer the Retribution pickup over this one though.
Sound
Very mid heavy in my opinion. Maybe others will hear differently.
Ease of Use
As I said above, it's lacks some low end. It still chugs though..
Manufacturer Support
The square piece under the pickup will not fit in a passive mount cavity in some Ibanez direct mount cavities. You will have to dremel out part of the cavity. Mine used to have DiMarzio Fusion Edge pickups without the covers so the cavity is smaller. You're limited to what you want in those type of guitars.
