I've had this guitar for a little over a year now. However, I did not buy it through zZounds but it has been on my "get" list. I found one in a pawn shop for a steal and knew exactly what it was. The bat inlays are a dead give away. EMGs, tune-o-matic bridge, Grover tuners, what more do you need for a decent priced guitar? I used to have the 8 string version of this guitar and gave it a 5/5 rating and will do the same to this one. It's just a C-1 Platinum with a different finish. I did install a Seymour Duncan AHB-2 Blackout for the bridge and it chugs like nobody's business. I have it tuned to drop B and I call it my "Motionless In White" guitar. Highly recommend.
Sound
A mahogany body with a Blackout or a Fishman is a win. Sure, EMGs can do it too but I'd prefer a Blackout. Very chunky and punchy sound when chugging. Crystal clear notes. Fast C shaped satin neck.
Ease of Use
Buying this guitar bone stock as is will make it worth your while. You don't really need to change anything on this guitar. I only did as a preference. It's a great guitar. I'd say it's up there with the Hellraiser series minus the push/pull, quilted maple top, and locking tuners.
Quality
Any C-1 model is worth every penny. (Damien Platinum, C-1 Platinum, Hellraiser C-1) I haven't tried the budget friendly ones yet but the ones mentioned above are great guitars. Every one that I've played have never had any issues.… read more Cosmic and electric wise. Take notes, Ibanez...
