zZounds Gear Experts Say...
Get rich, full Roland sound in a small space with the 65-watt KC-150 keyboard amp -- complete with 4-channel mixer and XLR microphone input.

As a keyboardist, you have a choice. You can show up without an amp, and run your keyboard through the unknown-quantity venue PA. Or, you can bring a Roland amp to the gig, and have complete control over your sound on stage. How can the Roland KC-150 help you sound better? For starters, playing through a serious amp is a great way to "localize" your sound when you're sharing the stage with a large ensemble. If solo gigs are more your speed, an amp is a must-have for parties or events in makeshift venues that lack a decent sound system. And if you've ever struggled to hear yourself in your own monitor wedge, the KC-150 makes a fantastic personal monitor, while you use its Line Out jack to run your rig into the PA. Your keyboard has some fantastic sounds, and the Roland KC-150 brings them to life with 65 watts of clear, deep power.

The Compact, Affordable Roland KC Amp

The KC-150 may be compact and affordable, but it's still a Roland with a reputation to uphold -- so there's no compromise on sound, build quality, or features. The 65-watt, two-way speaker system is tipped back in the cabinet to project your sound up and out, combining a 12-inch woofer and piezo tweeter to cover your keyboard's full range. In addition to the Line Out, there's also a Subwoofer Out jack, when you need even more impressive bass. The Master Control section lets you tweak high and low EQ and overall volume, and there's a headphone jack that automatically cuts the speakers when your cans are plugged in. read more With a handle for carrying, a rugged carpet cover, and even a port for mounting your amp on a speaker stand, it seems Roland has thought of everything on this modestly-sized KC amp.

Connect Four Inputs, Mix To Taste

Skip the rack mixer in your keyboard rig, and get individual control of four sources, right on your amp's top panel. The KC-150's four-channel mixer is simple to use, and it can accept four line-level inputs from keyboards or sound modules. Channel 1 also has a balanced XLR connector for standard microphones, in addition to its 1/4-inch mic/line jack -- nice for keyboard/vocal solo gigs, or shows where you're backing up a singer. Meanwhile, channel 4 functions as a monitor channel: anything plugged in here only comes out through the front speakers, and not through the Line Out jack, so it's perfect for a talkback or stage monitor send from the main PA. Your amp's main volume control doesn't affect the Line Out volume, so you can monitor loudly or quietly on your amp while sending channels 1, 2 and 3 to the Line Out. Finally, stereo RCA inputs let you connect external sources like MP3 or CD players.

The Do-Everything Amp

With its onboard mixing and personal-monitor capabilities, the Roland KC-150 is a versatile tool for anyone who plays live. And with its fat 12-inch woofer and dedicated tweeter, the Roland KC-150 delivers clear, rich, full-range sound that most guitar or bass amps don't even attempt. Perhaps that's why guitarists like to play through the KC-150, especially when they're going electric-acoustic. Roland amps are also a favorite among the digital-drum-kit crowd, and of course keyboardists swear by Roland's KC series -- some even use two amps on stage, one for each channel of a keyboard's stereo output. Overall, the KC-150 is a fantastic go-everywhere, do-everything workhorse, no matter what instrument you play.

More Keys, Please

If you want Roland sound on stage, but you're loath to lug around an enormous keyboard amp, Roland's compact KC-150 is the perfect place to start. Keyboardists can't always depend on a venue's PA, and whether you're rehearsing or on a gig, it's just plain gratifying to pump a big, fat sound out of a serious set of speakers. So why should guitarists and bassists have all the fun? Thanks to the Roland KC-150, keyboardists now have a worthy amp at an extremely affordable price.

I don't ofresee ever needing another keyboard amp.
Sound
I run two of these amps as a stereo pair combined with the matched subwoofer. I play a Korg Triton Pro-X and Roland Fantom X6. The sound is outstanding, very clear, with an enormous dynamic range. It really showcases the sound-generating capabilities of these fine synths.
Features
There are plenty of inputs and volume controls. This amp removes the need for a separate mixer.
Quality
Very tough and solid with quality components.
Value
Reasonable price for this quality and level of functionality

The Wow Factor
It's hard to get excited about the sex appeal of a keyboard amp, but as such things go, I guess it's OK.
