PRS Paul Reed Smith S2 Vela Electric Guitar, Dot Inlays (with Gig Bag)

With its radical design, the S2 Vela is sure to turn a few heads. Create tons of tones with the PRS-designed Starla humbucker and Type-D single-coil pickups.

What's special about this item?

Feature: What it does:
Mahogany body Rich, warm, focused sound; added sustain
Rosewood fretboard Open, warm tone and smooth playing feel
PRS Starla humbucking pickup Smooth, complex tone with even response.
PRS Type-D single-coil pickup Low-output design for uncompromised dynamic feel.

A vintage-inspired guitar with loads of personality and tonal textures, the PRS S2 Vela continues in the style of the Mira and Starla models. The Vela boasts a new offset body shape that is at once elegant and edgy. Its pickguard loaded electronics feature a PRS-Designed Starla pickup in the bridge, providing a bright, punky tone, and the new PRS-Designed Type-D Single coil in the neck that gives the Vela some noteworthy bite. The coil-tap on the tone control allows the bridge pickup to split to single coils, providing a balanced tone that will cut through the mix with style.

Hear the S2 Vela (and the S2 Custom 24) through the PRS Archon 50 combo amp in our exclusive demo:

Anchoring this guitar is a new PRS plate-style bridge with two saddles that were designed to compensate for intonation. This bridge harkens back to Paul's early designs and traditional bass plate-style bridges, but is top-loading for easy restringing. Like the bridge found on Paul's Guitar and some Private Stock models, PRS's new plate-style bridge features brass saddles and an aluminum plate for maximum tonal sustain.

It comes pristine and setup right out of the included gig bag. Just feels right in your hands and in your lap ( that's what she said yeah, yeah). I would recommend this guitar to anyone who wants an American made work of art, that will provide classic Strat and Tele tones, with unique richness and PRS style.

Playing through a 1x12 tube amp, using a couple drive/fuzz pedals and a delay, the sound is unreal. I am able to get anything from spot on vintage David Gilmour to SRV tones and everything in between and after. Really an all-in-one sound machine capable of anything from vintage blues to modern metal. I will say it is a bit darker but near to the middle position on a Strat yet more Tele, but to me it has its own rich voice that is deliciously unique.

The bridge makes restringing an absolute breeze. Intonation is perfect right out of the box. Both pickups, in any position sound so clear and crisp. You can really get so much sparkle and spank out of the single coil, and great chunk and sustain out of the humbucker. Stays in tune very well, and the action as with all PRS guitars, is impeccable.

Ease of Use
It truly plays like a dream. It really brings out the best in an amp, and loves any and all pedals. Minimalistic design, creates the perfect balance of aesthetic and ease of use.

This is the second PRS Ive owned, I also had a Zach read more Myers SE, but the Vela is much more superior in quality all around.Build quality, component value, and design are just on a different level. This guitar is definitely the perfect gigging guitar. Has a great solid feel to it, everything seems sturdy and well made/put together.

Absolutely worth its weight in diamonds.
