Orange Pedal Baby 100 Guitar Amplifier Head (100 Watts)

zZounds Gear Experts Say...
If you create most of your tone from pedals, the Pedal Baby is the amp for you. Tuned for a neutral yet flattering tone, this amp lets your pedals shine.

The Orange Pedal Baby 100 is a 100W class A/B power amplifier, designed for the touring musician. Neutral-sounding but still flattering, it's perfect for guitarists running pedal boards, modellers or digital processors. Light, compact and built for the road; fly dates and changing venues are all taken in its stride.

Class A/B Power Amp:

While Class D amps are favoured for their efficiency, Class A/B amps have a certain "feel" that you can't get any other way. The Pedal Baby 100 gives guitarists back the dynamics, punch and natural sound that is missing in modern poweramps. Plus, Class A/B amps produce real power through standard guitar cabs; 100W into 8 ohms and 70W into 16 Ohms, to be precise.

Class A Front End:

Inspired by valve amp design, the Pedal Baby 100 uses a Class A, single-ended front end. Forget sterile-sounding Solid State amps, the Pedal Baby 100 keeps all of your tone's mojo, then adds a bit more.

EQ Designed for Pedals:

Different to traditional guitar amplifiers, the EQ has been designed to be flatter and more neutral. At 12 o'clock (neutral) the EQ cuts out allowing the tone to be exactly what your pedals define. With a responsive Bass and Treble control, guitarists can tune their cabinet to get the tone they're looking for.

Pedal Baby: Small and Portable:

Weighing around 3KG and powering big cabs on big stages, the Pedal Baby 100 is the perfect amp for fly dates or any guitarist travelling light. Downsize your rig, not your tone. read more

I play in an original hard rock band with songs that range from punk to metal. For the past 8 years I have used a Blackheart BH100H Hot Head amp which is heavy in both sound and weight. Lugging that back and forth to gigs and up and down flights of stairs was just getting too much. It was time to downsize but I was not willing to compromise power, headroom, versatility or, most importantly, volume. I play in a very loud band with a hard hitting drummer and my other guitarist uses a multi-amp setup. I bought the Orange Pedal Baby because it's A/B powered and won't lose much in wattage going from an 8 ohm to a 16 ohm cabinet. This thing can get seriously loud and has no issue making your ears ring. I haven't had the volume past 1 o'clock yet. I pair it with my Mooer Black Knight preamp pedal and don't have to worry about tweaking the mix on the preamp as I turn up the volume on the Pedal Baby due to its beautiful neutral voicing. With its small form factor and low weight, it easily fits onto a pedal board making it perfect for carrying virtually anywhere. The only negatives I could really say about this power amp would be lack of a mute switch and it comes with a very short power cord.

The base sound is neutral clean. Adding a good preamp is pretty much a necessity.

Plug and play at its simplest.

The chassis is solid and the input connections are nice and stable.

Value
At $399, you can grab any preamp or modeler for far less than a traditional gig ready amplifier without compromising anything.

The Wow Factor
A solid state power amp that reacts like a tube amp. I didn't think such a beast existed until now.
