Hey, it's Patrick with zZounds, and this is the Marshall DSL 20 CR combo amp. This is a 20-watt, 1x12 combo amp from Marshall. It's a great amp for gigs, practice, you know, just as your first Marshall amp, or even one that's going to stay with you for a long time because this has a lot of features in it, great sound, and it's a really, really usable amp. It has two channels, which is one of the cool features here. You've got a classic gain channel and you also have an ultra-gain channel—really just a low-gain and a high-gain channel with a little bit different voicing at each one. You know, the classic gain, as it says, will probably give you more of a classic rock tone—kind of something more like, you know, AC/DC. You get on to the ultra-gain, and you're like, you know, really cooking with, you know, F.A. Electric, you know, Iron Man or something. It takes pedals very well, and in addition, you can throw those on the front end. It does have an effects loop as well, so if you want to just run this where you're getting gain only from the amp and then you're running modulation effects or anything like that into the back, you can do that with this, and it sounds great. Both channels have a shared EQ, and with the EQ, you have, you know, bass, mid, treble, resonance, and presence, so you have a lot of control there over your sound. There's also a tone shift, which lets you just kind of like shift the mids to get a little different voicing, so you can get more modern sounds,…

more vintage sounds. And it also has an onboard reverb, which sounds great. 7080 speaker, and here's the selection—7080. Then it gets switchable between 20 watts and 10 watts, as I believe I said already. So on the back here, we have first three red connections. Here are three speaker outputs. One is for the internal speaker—that’s a Celestion 7080—and then we have two here where you can connect either two 16-ohm cabs or just one 8-ohm cab. The white connection here is the footswitch. These black ones here are the effects loop. Then there's also in here, we have two 8-inch connections. One is an aux in, so you can play along to a song or practice that way. The other one is an 8-inch out, which actually has a Softube emulated output, so it's got a simulated 1960 cabinet kind of built into there. So if you're just plugging headphones into that, you're going to hear that sound. If you're just taking that direct out to do some recordings that way, you know, that's already kind of built in. So that's a really cool feature on the back. But overall, this is a really, you know, great amp. It's 20 watts, but 22 watts, so it's quite loud. The 12-inch speaker sounds great. You can really crank this thing up and, you know, kind of get the most out of it and really have a lot of fun playing through it. With the volume turned up, even if you're playing at a bar, you know, where it's not too big, also if you're playing at a large venue, I mean, you're still going to be heard a lot of the time with this thing. So just a great amp to look at if you want an affordable amp with lots of features, if you're trying to get into the Marshall sound, or if you just like me, you just like having lots of amps. I recommend it either way.
