With the 339, Gibson shrinks the body of a 335 for a more comfortable playing experience. Its pair of MHS II humbuckers produces an organic, vintage sound.

What's special about this item?

The 2019 Gibson ES-339 Satin is a modern classic designed for those seeking the tone and look of an ES-335, but in a slightly smaller, lighter instrument. The Memphis Historic Spec II (MHS II) humbucking pickups paired with Memphis Tone Control Plus (MTC Plus) circuitry showcases the versatile Gibson ES tone that players have craved for over 60 years. This is my first Gibson, and it will not be my last. Overall: This thing sounds killer in whatever situation I run it through, the satin black finish looks sleek as hell, and it plays like a dream. This guitar really is a fine example of a comeback from Gibson's recent years of production. I would buy another one if something happened to this one.
Sound
This thing is so versatile. I found myself playing clean jazzy chords and indulging in the classic bluesy side of the instrument, but then I cranked the gain and it still held up playing hard rock and metal, just as a les paul would. The bridge pickup is HOT. Really can be used for any genre.
Quality
It came set up, right out of the box. Action was so low and fast. No buzzing. Truly an amazing set up.
Value
I find that you get what you pay for with music equipment. This is my first venture into Gibson as a brand, and I can safely say that I understand why people still buy Gibson's after all these years. This feels like an expensive guitar, and as soon as you pick it up, you understand why it is NO cheap guitar.
The Wow Factor
This satin black finish looks simply killer. The binding complements it stunningly. This guitar wouldn't look out of place anywhere, from a sweaty punk show to a Tuxedo clad party. Really awesome.

Musical Style:

Rock, Hard Rock, Metal, Blues Rock.
