All American Series HSS, HH, HH Hardtail Stratocaster(R), Precision Bass(R) and Jazz Bass(R) guitars come equipped with the patented S-1 switching system. This new system allows players to choose from an endless array of pickup configurations. By pushing the button secretly located on the crown of the master volume knob, you can switch humbuckers into single coils in an instant. Stratocaster HSS guitars features the new S-1 switching and 3 incredible sounding Fender pickups (one Diamondback humbucker and 2 custom staggered Tex-Mex single coils).
American Series guitars feature an Alder or Ash body (depending on color), modern, satin-finished 'C'-shape Maple necks with Rosewood or Maple fingerboards and 22 medium jumbo frets, and an American 2-point tremolo (Stratocaster), while American Series Telecaster(R) guitars feature an American made Tele(R) bridge with 6 stainless steel saddles.

For the classic sound and the hard rock sound i will always turn to the HSS.
Sound
great overall sound, although the output volume isn't as loud as my other guitars. But the sound itself is stellar along with the S1 switch, all types of music is possible to play. ONly drawback is the tex-mex pickups...i always wonder how different the american strat. pickups would sound
Features
The guitar is supposed to come with a case and the case is loaded with a nice strap and other useful hardware. But the case isn't the easiest thing to open... u can tell it was made in mexico.
Ease of Use
The different sounds are great with the S1 switch. All the combinations along with tweaking your amp a little can really sound amazing.
Quality
Quality is good... haven't had any problems. Sienna sunburstlooks great. the finish is perfect and the guitar is pleasing to the eye.
Value
For the S1 switch... great price... much cheaper than a les paul
