Evans REMAD Resonant Bass Drumhead

This resonant kick head comes with two interchangeable foam rings that fit around the 5-inch port to control sustain and overtones to the drummer's taste.
With the Evans EMAD (Externally Mounted Adjustable Damping) Resonant bass drum head, drummers now have another simple, quick way to change their drumhead sound without having to remove the head. The EMAD resonant allows the player to toggle between three different levels of attack and sustain.

The EMAD Resonant was brought to Evans by drummer/designer Bob Gatzen, and refined by the Evans Research and Development team. It utilizes a 7mil head with a fixed internal ring. The head features two interchangeable foam rings that dampen overtones around the edge of the 5 in. offset port, focusing the pitch and enhancing attack. The port is positioned higher up on the head for easier microphone placement.

The firmer of the two foam rings (darker color) delivers enhanced attack, controlled sustain, and focused low-end for a quick, articulate thump. The softer foam ring (lighter color) allows for a more round tone and moderately controlled sustain especially useful for smaller drums and high tuning. Together, the EMAD batter and resonant heads complete a system that gives drummers the adjustability, low-end, attack, and focus they dream about.

"Fat & Punchy"
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
I have been using this head for about 7 months and it shows no signs of wear.
Sound
Overall the sound of the EMAD system is pretty awesome. I use both the EMAD batter and resonant heads.
Features
The sound hole rings that come with the resonant head make an incredible difference with overtones. It adds the punch that must drummers require while eliminating unwanted overtones. The only draw back is the rings are not made well and tear easily after several uses. Mine were installed and never touched again until I noticed that the ring was beginning to split. I like the system so well though I used a little super glue and quickly was back in action.
Ease of Use
Just install, tune to desired taste, and that is it. I was actually able to acquire that low end punch that I couldn't get out of other heads short of using a trigger system.
Quality
Everything was great out of the box.
Value
The best heads available.
Manufacturer Support
I have not requested support.
The Wow Factor
Nice fat punchy bass sound. I have a 17.5 X 22 bass drum and this head makes it sound awesome.
