Part of Audix's MicroBoom System, the MB8450 package includes an 84-inch carbon fiber boom with M1250B microphone, clutch assembly, and cable. The M1250B miniature cardioid condenser microphone attaches to the mini-XLR connector at the end of the gooseneck, and runs on 18-52 V phantom power.
The M1250B's cardioid pattern is the most widely used, as it offers a good balance between the sound of the instrument or voice within the context of the room or venue. For instruments, the M1250B may be positioned anywhere from 3 - 12 inches depending on instrument and room acoustics. For speech or singer voice the typical working distance is 8 - 10 inches. For area miking or group vocals the working distance can be between 2 - 3 feet from the sound source.
