With a Line 6 Relay G50 digital wireless guitar system, you can break free from your amp and pedalboard! This wireless system features 12 user-selectable channels, a wide 10 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response, 2.4 GHz band broadcast for interference-free performance, compander-free operation so your tone won't sound squashed, and much more. To get started, just add the system's stompbox-style receiver to your pedalboard, clip the transmitter to your guitar strap, and choose a channel.

Power Up and Play without Ever Tripping on a Cable

The Relay G50 digital wireless guitar system works right out of the box, allowing you to enjoy playing guitar wirelessly without having to scan for open channels or reference Web sites for rules and restrictions. The Relay G50 wireless rig features 24-bit A/D conversion with a wide 10 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response and dynamic range of up to 118 dB -- so you'll preserve the full, natural tone of your guitar or bass without adding noise.

Compander-Free Operation

Older analog VHF of UHF wireless systems use companding (compression and expansion) to send and receive audio -- which can squash your dynamics and suck the life out of your tone. Unlike those analog systems, the Relay G50 sends a full-bandwidth, 24-bit digital signal, so you get the sound you're used to from a wired system. Line 6's exclusive Virtual Wire Transmission (VWT) technology provides excellent transient response, full-range frequency response, and wide dynamic range.

Cable Tone Simulation Onboard

When you plug into a guitar amplifier or pedalboard with an analog cable, your tone is affected by the impedance of that cable. So if you've dialed in your amp's tone settings while plugged in, you may notice your wireless system sounding a little too bright or present in comparison. Take the edge off your tone, and add the sound of your cable back into the mix with the Line 6 Relay G50's built-in cable tone simulator. Just flip the Cable Tone switch on the receiver to put Line 6's DSP expertise to work modeling the sound of a 15-foot or 30-foot analog cable. Now, you can switch back and forth between wired and wireless without having to adjust the tone settings on your amplifier.

Sayonara, Interference

Digital Channel Lock (DCL) technology automatically locks out all sources of interference so that when you perform, you hear just your guitar, not static. Likewise, the system operates in the 2.4 GHz broadcast band, which avoids interference caused by TV stations, public safety broadcasts, cell phone towers, and other high-powered sources.

Features:

- 200-foot range lets you keep your distance from the receiver without affecting sound quality
- Broad 10 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response
- 118 dB dynamic range -- preserves your the dynamics of your signal
- 24-bit A/D conversion for high-quality sound
- Broadcasts in the 2.4 GHz band for interference-free operation
- 12 user-selectable channels so there's always an open channel
- Find open channels right out of the box, with no scanning, searching, or hassle
- VWT technology mimics the functionality of a guitar cable
- Cable Tone Simulator lets you switch between wired and wireless without having to adjust the tone settings on your amp
- EQ settings match the sound of a guitar cable so you can keep your tone
- Encrypted data stream provides added signal protection

Product Description

Line 6 Relay digital wireless guitar systems are hassle-free and work right out of the box. Power up, pick a channel, and go! Put analog wireless to shame. All channels in all Relay digital wireless systems work all the time -- there's no website to reference and no need to scan for open channels.

Perfectly placed ins and outs, metal stompbox-style reciever, internally mounted antennas; the Relay G50 digital wireless system is the perfect addition to any pedal board.

Features:

- 200-foot range; 12 user-selectable channels
- Broad 10Hz-20kHz frequency response
- Superior 118 dB dynamic range with Zero compression
- Broadcasts in the 2.4GHz band: optimal for guitar wireless
- Find open channels right out of the box--no scanning, no searching, no hassle
- EQ settings match the sound of a guitar cable so you can keep your sound
- Encrypted data stream provides additional signal protection

VWT

Exclusive VWT (Virtual Wire Transmission) technology ensures full-range frequency response, excellent transient response, and wide dynamic range - just like a high-quality guitar cable.

Superior Specs

Relay digital wireless systems produce full-range tones with 10Hz-20kHz frequency response, exceedingly low noise with up to 120dB dynamic range, and studio-quality resolution with 24-bit A/D conversion. (Comparably priced analog wireless systems offer 50Hz-15kHz frequency response and >90dB dynamic range. This wreaks havoc on your tone, especially if you use a high-gain amp.)

Cable Tone Simulation

Using a cable and a wireless system? Now you can switch back and forth without having to adjust the tone settings on your amplifier. Relay digital wireless systems feature a Cable Tone Simulator, which lets you match the sound of your Relay to the sound of your cable.

Compander-Free

Companders squash your signal and ruin your tone. Analog wireless systems require companders but Relay wireless systems do not. Remaining compander-free enables Relay to deliver a beautiful high-end sparkle, thunderous low-end punch, and touch response that analog wireless systems simply cannot deliver.

Digital Channel Lock

Exclusive DCL (Digital Channel Lock) technology automatically locks out all sources of interference. The only sound that will come out of your amplifier is you - not static, not Top 40 radio, just you. Guaranteed.

2.4 GHz broadcast...What about Wi-Fi?

Worried about interference caused by 2.4GHz WiFi networks and Bluetooth devices? Don't be. Relay digital wireless systems use uniquely addressed and encoded digital transmission technology. Your tone will make it from your transmitter to your receiver free of interference.

The best way to avoid interference? Don't get in its way. Relay digital wireless systems broadcast in the 2.4GHz band, which successfully avoids interference caused by TV stations, public safety broadcasts, cell phone towers, and other high-powered sources.

Full Quality, No Matter What

Whether you're playing two feet from your Relay or at the edge of its range, you get the same great specs: full frequency response, superior dynamic range, cable-inspired dependability, and 24-bit A/D conversion.

zZounds Expert Review
Sometimes you gotta get up and boogie, dance around your singer, surf the crowd from the stage to the bar, hang from the rafters while one-handed tapping, throw a guitar to your bass player mid-song, whip your guitar around your body, back flip off the drum riser, or get some fresh air during a solo. Or maybe you just don't want to be tethered to your pedalboard. If you want to move around, and sacrificing your tone is not an option, this Line 6 digital wireless system is just what you need. It offers crystal clarity, unlike the analog systems of the past which leave your tone sounding like it's under a blanket in the next room. I choose gear based on dependability more than the "wow factor," and the beauty of a system like the Line 6 Relay G50 is that it's something you don't notice, period. When you're free to worry about how to segue way in to your next jam, instead of worrying about drop-outs and zapped tone, you won't think twice about this system. It's simply dependable -- and what more do you want out of your rig? Oh, one for each guitarist? They've got you covered: you can run up to 12 total and you don't need to worry about any crosstalk between bandmates or CB radios in the parking lot interfering with your rad behind-the-head solo. Don't try any of the stuff I said at the beginning at home -- try it at your next gig.

zZounds has verified that this customer bought this product from us. "Great sound, insane range! I got so far away I couldn't find my amp!"
Sound: Very good, very close. The cable length selector rolls off the highs as you extend the 'length' Feature: Receiver fits a stomp box footprint. The Mute button is essential if you change guitars onstage. Another really great feature is that the receiver gets battery life updates from the transmitter, so you can read the battery life without twisting yourself into a pretzel, or removing the belt pack. A great feature for live.work. One minor 'gotcha' to watch for: if you're groping around back to clip this to your belt, it's quite easy to snag the battery cover release and de-power the unit, not to mention dropping batteries onto the stage The cover is unfortunately placed right where it's most convenient to grab it for this purpose. Mine has a little piece of painter's tape over it now. I don't find the cable selector at all useful; it offers nothing that can't be easily dialed up from the amp, and it smacks of tech for tech's sake. I truly love these guys and their insane obsession with modelling everything on the planet, but what's next, a guitar pick thickness and density simulator? Ease of Use: If you don't know how to install batteries and connect audio cords, you could be in for a rough time. Get that bit down and it starts right out of the box. Defaults to Channel 1. The only thing I learned from the manual is that you can use both input buttons simultaneously to lock the unit on and in its current config. Very handy on stage; you can't accidentally power it down or change channels by hitting a button Quality: Metal construction, made for the stage. Can't comment on reliability, as I have not had it long. Value: It's not cheap, that's for sure, and if you are only playing smaller venues with not too many other wireless channels, check out the G30, at $100 less. It's a high quality product, and that has value for professional and amateur alike. Manufacturer Support: Previous good support from L6 on other products. The Wow Factor: How many other products will let you rock out while riding a horse? On a more serious note, it's great for both live and home studio work; it's very handy to be able to put an amp in a closet to keep the volume manageable for other players or neighbors, and play without a cable. I've even stuck a mic'ed amp into a car in a friend's garage so he could get that maxed out sound without fear of eviction. Overall: Well-built, clean and exceptionally close to cable sound Just kidding, although the 200' range is a conservative estimate: I live on a farm and got at least 300' away before I dropped signal, and there were two insulated walls between me and the receiver. Unless you're playing solo, you can't get past 80-100' anyway, without playing out of time due to the delay in the sound reaching you; that extra power just makes for a great signal when you're closer.

"THIS is your wireless rig, guitarists!"
Sound: I've had mine about a year and gig pretty regularly with it. The sound is as close to having a cable in your guitar as you can get with a wireless rig. I'm (currently) using it with a Duncan SH-10 "Full Shred" passive pickup into a tuner and Marshall TSL-60. It's definitely the "hottest" wireless system out there. My previously wireless (which shall go nameless) just didn't have near the volume needed to get the sound I could get with a cable, but the G50 does the job better than any other wireless system I've gotten my hands on. Feature: I really like the battery indicators, both on the transmitter and the reciever unit. You don't have to look close and see how many "bars" you have left. If it's not shining green, it's time to swap. There's no plastic chassis on the G50 which makes me feel better about thrashing around if the show calls for it. There's also a "cable simulator" which you can use to dial in different lengths. I find it just gives the signal darker and darker tones depending on how far you turn it up. As I'm going for brighter tones to offset my lead player's dark rhythm tone, I don't need it. I gave it a "9" because I'd like to see an additional feature to increase the signal strength for passive pickups like the Duncan "Full Shred". It's close, but it's still not as "brilliant" as using an actual cable. For active pickup players, you got nothin' to worry about. Ease of Use: I did read the manual, but it doesn't require that you do to make it do the job. If you have more than one person in the band using a G50 unit, you'll wanna read up on choosing a signal and labeling your particular transmitter on the LCD readout screen. Quality: The G50 is absolutely roadworthy (that's where I'm using it). I tend to baby my gear as much as possible and since it's not a stompbox, it doesn't face the rigors of gigging that my tuner or channel switcher do on a nightly basis. Just take care of your gear. If you don't have to beat it to death, don't. Pretty simple advice. Value: They say "you get what you pay for". With the G50, you will and it's worth every cent. Manufacturer Support: Haven't had a single issue so I can't comment on this. The Wow Factor: It's pretty to look at, but I decideed to get mine after trying a friend's G50. The sound was there, the feel was solid. Sure, it cost more than my $75 rig I had before, but it was totally worth it. Overall: I'm extremely satisfied with the G50. No dropouts in the signal, I can tell from a distance if the batteries are about to go dead, and it's built like a tank. Again, my only gripe would be to add a booster for passive pickup players so there's no difference between using the G50 or a cable, but it's pretty close as it is. In a live situation, that really doesn't matter all that much with all the other racket going on.
