The e609 Silver is based on the legendary MD 409 microphone. Able to withstand high SPLs without distorting, the e609 Silver's flat-profile capsule allows extremely close miking of guitar cabinets and precise drum miking, particularly toms. The e609 Silver's super-cardioid design improves isolation while its increased output and wider frequency response improves performance. Its sound inlet basket, made of refined steel, is distinguished by a unique silver address side.

Sound: Great presence, very punchy, aggressive. I like it a heck of a lot more than a 57. Haven't used it live yet but it's great for recording dry tracks. Tends to pick up 10 and 12 inch speakers better than 15s. Get a windscreen and try it on vocals with an extra room mic for that Albini-esque sound... Feature: The mic seems tough enough. It's really compact, I might try using it to mic up some drums. The bag is okay, the clip is useless. It doesn't fit the stem of the mic at all, barely fits over the XLR jack on the cable. I'm just using it draped over the cab instead. Ease of Use: It's a mic, point it at the thing you want to pick up, pretty easy. All depends on your ear and experience in the studio I guess. Quality: Probably not bomb proof like a 57 but I don't think I'll be taking this one on the road with me. I could see it surviving a few rough nights at The Mutiny, maybe. Value: Same price as a 57 but smaller, lighter and less noisy. Manufacturer Support: Haven't had to deal with the manufacturer yet. Probably won't need to unless I do something stupid to it. The Wow Factor: Not as sleek looking or feature rich as the e906 but I don't really need selectable filters on a dynamic mic, that's what EQ is for. Overall: I'm a junkie for gear so I'm always looking for something new and different. This mic will probably be used on everything I record until it stops working. In which case, I'll probably buy another or try out the 906. It's always a good idea to keep a stable of mics at the ready. Definitely recommend giving this one a shot.

zZounds has verified that this customer bought this product from us. "Great for Metalcore/Hardcore, or any touring band."
Sound: Very crisp and punchy. Highly Reccomend for Metalcore/Hardcore bands looking to really bring out the awesome power of the Peavey 5150 or Mesa Triple Rectifier. Feature: No real features, I like the carrying pouch compared to Shure's. Quality: Very solid and tough, nice powdercoat finish so scratching isn't much of an issue. Value: Basically the same price as SM-57, but sounds alot better. Manufacturer Support: Sennheiser = Good People. The Wow Factor: The overall look of the microphone makes you think it's a refreshing, unique piece of equipment, and it is. Overall: My band tours the midwest and i bring these with everywhere, we use all Sennheiser on guitars and bass, Audix on drums, and Shure Beta 58A's for vocals. This mic has held up the best so far.
