"Great for the beginner or as a pro backup."

Feature:
Points deducted for: (1) The redundant bass & treble controls on channels 1 & 2. There is already a 3-band master EQ and an EQ for the mic input and (2) there is no XLR mic input but ironicaly, it has XLR outputs for powered speakers. CD controls are easy to use and the mixer has the basics that every DJ needs. I like the fact that it has a 3rd channel so you can add an I-Pod or laptop.

Quality:
Despite the rumors I heard about their reliability, I have not had any problems.

Value:
Roadcase should come standard even if the price is more.

Sound:
For basic sound applications, the sound is fine. Bass sounds a little muddy, but the mids & highs are decent. With a sub, it doesn't matter.

Ease of Use:
It can't get any easier to use than this.

Overall:
Because of its basic features, the CD Mix 3 is more suited for the beginner or the DJ who only needs to play and mix CD/MP-3 discs. That being said, I purchased one of these for myself as a backup. I use it mostly for my outdoor parties in case it rains so my good stuff does not get ruined and in case I need music in a separate location. Spend the extra $69 and get the optional roadcase (CD MIX Case) so you don't damage your Numark. In a nutshell, buy one and keep it in your van in case you ever have an equipment malfunction or need a lightweight basic DJ setup.

"Don't buy this if all you need is a preamp with 2 CD players and an extra input or 2."

Feature:
The best thing I like is the ability to the 2 CD decks and the external line devise and choose between them. I don't care for or use the jog wheels, pitch control or programing of tracks. I find the headphone monitoring selector and volume control very confusing and difficult to use. I don't use the jog wheels for matching pitch between the CD decks so that's a useless feature for me. Also, I don't mix anything, so the mixing control is useless as well. I wish I could have found a simpler console made more for my needs.

Quality:
I don't know how it compares with other stuff, but after a couple of years of relatively light use, it's really beginning to fall apart. I'd call it overpriced junk. The little button on the pitch control slider of one CD deck fell off and got lost. The other one falls off readily. The same slider that lost the button also started working erratically and I can no longer get the pitch to the neutral position. Bear in mind that I rarely if ever use the pitch controls.... The CD decks will sporadically get balky and not open or close on command. They will also not play CDs that they played before for no apparent reason. To make things worse, the unit now makes a repetitive noise like a ground hum or noise. I did not do this at first so it's a problem which developed since I bought it. I'd rate it fairly low in the quality scale.

Value:
Pretty bad. Low quality, questionable usefulness, unnecessary features, clunky to use, not very portable.... I also paid a good bit of money for it and it's now basically a piece of junk. I hate that I still must use it since it's basically the pre-amp for my system... I think it's a disposable, throw-away item.

Desirability:
It looks better than it is....

Sound:
When I first got it the sound was fine. I only use the unit as a console to play CDs and another line input with a laptop to play MP3's The music I play is mostly old scratchy mono records that have been digitized onto CDs. Now the thing is making noises that come out of the speakers whether I'm playing anything through it or not. The noises go away if I bypass the unit...

Ease of Use:
Playing the CDs or switching to line source is very easy. as long as you remember to keep track of the mixing slider and keep the settings and controls near the jog wheels in one position and don't move or touch them. The equalizer does a fair job and it's also easy to use. The actual controls associated with each CD player are not easy to use or intuitive. The selection process between inputs is relatively easy to use but requires a good bit of attention or you'll end up screwing up during your gigs. It could be a lot better than it is.

Support:
Don't know. I've never contacted them.............

Overall:
I am looking very hard to find something to replace this unit. The biggest problem is finding a no-frills, high quality, highly portable, durable unit to replace it.
