Are you the lone wolf, singer/songwriter type? Need pristine live sound quality and over 200 watts of clean power for an acoustic guitar, voice, and backing tracks, all with a minimal amount of fuss? Don't want to make more than one trip from the car to the stage, and a setup time of around one minute? If multi-tasking is your thing, why not turn your show into a one man band and soundman, and save all of the gig money (and beer tickets) for yourself by picking up the SA220... we'll leave it up to you whether or not you decide to strap on your knee cymbals.

The Whole Kit and Caboodle
The magnanimous SA220 is what is known as a Compact Line Array. Have you ever noticed those giant stacks of speakers suspended from the rafters, above the stage of one of those huge arena rock concerts? Those are known as line arrays, and they operate in such a way to give every audience member in attendance the same tonal quality and volume. The SoloAmp acts under the same principles, albeit in a much more lower-back friendly package (the unit weighs in at 25 pounds, and fully packed with case and stand only tips the scale at 35 pounds). With that in mind, feel free to sell your cumbersome and confusing floor wedge monitors, because the SA220 gives the performer accurate, clear monitoring, all from the same set of drivers that your audience is hearing! Under the hood you'll find six custom-designed four-inch high-excursion speakers and a single one-inch Neodymium soft dome tweeter with its own level control. Together, these elements coalesce to deliver an incredible field of depth, and warmth, belying the modest size of this tone machine. With 220 watts of startling power, you'll wonder why you ever even thought about lugging around a larger PA. Listen to one of these in person before you decide you miss your old subwoofer--he bass and low mid frequencies pumped out by this Fishman really need to be heard to be believed.

Useful Flexibility
The Fishman SA220 offers two independent microphone or instrument channels, with independent triple band equalization and gain controls, low-noise/high-headroom preamps, switchable phantom power, and 10db pads. If you need to add a little extra depth and vibe to your performance, each channel also has independent reverb pots to control one of four selectable reverb types. Feedback is a problem for any performer on any stage, and Fishman knows it, which is why they've built nasty-feedback squashing Phase and Notch filters into their already feedback deterring world class circuitry. Fishman hasn't left anything out of this design, really gearing this toward the singer, acoustic guitarist, and electric keyboard player, even including an effects loop, an aux stereo input with level control for backing tracks or MP3 player use, balanced XLR DI outs for both channels and main mix, a footswitchable channel mute, and even a tuner output.

Leave Your Roadie At Home
Pack the 25 pound SoloAmp and stand (let's not gloss over that--a free stand is a really sweet added treat) into its included carry bag with built-in wheels and cart the SoloAmp along to your next few gigs at the local underground bookstore/Vegan cafe--without the need to rent a PA system or pay a soundman. The SA220 will pay for itself sooner than you can say First Edition Dostoevsky. Thank you, thank you, tip your barista.
Designed for the singer/songwriter, SoloAmp provides exceptional sound quality and coverage in a wide variety of venues. 220 Watts of clean, lightweight power drives a line array of six custom high-excursion speakers and a soft dome tweeter. This unique combination delivers incredibly full sound, ultra-wide dispersion, and deeper sonic penetration than the common speaker cabinet. Better yet, the enhanced bass response of the custom-designed speakers means there’s no need for a subwoofer!

It’s a P.A. ... and an Amp.
With SoloAmp, the performer and audience hear exactly the same sound, meaning there’s no need for separate wedge monitors or a combo amp backline. And because SoloAmp is voiced for the singer/songwriter, acoustic instruments and vocals are projected with superb depth and clarity.

The Ultimate in Portability
SoloAmp weighs only 25lbs*, ships complete with a padded bag equipped with wheels, and includes a rugged speaker stand. Set up takes less than a minute, with only one trip to the car! And full-digital universal power means SoloAmp is ready to travel anywhere in the world.

Features Performing Musicians Demand
Fishman didn’t make SoloAmp this portable by scaling back on features or tone. In fact, they’ve included all of the award-winning elements of the Loudbox family, and added a unique Monitor feature designed to revolutionize an acoustic duo’s ability to hear each other on stage. SoloAmp is also equipped with two mic/instrument channels featuring high-quality preamps, each with 3-band EQ, phantom power, built-in reverb, effects loop, and feedback-fighting notch filter and phase controls.

Fishman SA220 SoloAmp Performance Amplifier System Reviews

"Big Quality Sound In A Little Package!"
Feature:
The controls have a decent selection of reverbs and EQ. The EQ sounds very musical for guitar. I plug-in my Fishman Aura-equipped Martins or my Gibson J-45 and RainSong DR1000 with Aura Dreadnought Pedal and can EQ the guitar tone using only the systems onboard 3-band EQ.

Quality:
The Fishman SoloAmp seems quite well made and is easy to transport in its rolling gig bag. I've read a few comments from users saying they've experienced some ripping of gig-bag straps away from the nylon-woven fabric. I've not yet experienced this and hope not to as I'm very careful with my equipment.

Value:
Excellent value given its power, portability and tone!

Desirability:
Definitely a product that'll make a performer smile and feel good about owning and using it.

Sound:
A very warm sounding guitar/PA setup that produces a full tone with plenty of clean bass response. The tone of this system is big in comparison to its light, small size!

Ease of Use:
A versatile system that's easy to transport, setup and use.

Support:
Every time I've contacted Fishman about product information or other questions, I've always received quick and helpful responses.

Overall:
I could see possibly adding another Fishman SoloAmp to increase sound penetration and dispersion for bigger venues. A single SoloAmp is a very useful system for small- to medium-sized venues.
