Mahogany top Warm tone with long sustain
Sapele laminate back and sides Rich, warm, and focused midrange; added sustain
Nato neck Smooth feel and a modern tone
Fishman Isys preamp Delivers pristine amplified acoustic tone

The Pursuit Dreadnought mahogany captures Breedlove's distinctively crafted sound in an affordable package. With a solid mahogany top, this full-depth dreadnought's back and sides are constructed of sapele, a tonewood with attributes similar to mahogany, making it a versatile instrument that will project well. Delivering a warm, musical tone when played both acoustically and plugged in, you'll want to get your arms around it and immediately begin creating music from the first strum. Includes built-in USB port for easy interfacing with GarageBand and other recording software.

Check out the beautiful mahogany Pursuit Dreadnought:

Body Shape

The Breedlove Dreadnought is slightly more rounded than traditional dreadnoughts, producing beautifully full, punchy, and articulate tones. The Dreadnought appeals to players inspired by the familiarity of a dreadnought, who are looking for nuance and richness from their instrument. The Breedlove Dreadnought projects well, so it excels in an ensemble, and yet retains the refinement needed for vocal accompaniment.

Top Wood

Mahogany is a medium-lightweight wood, ranging in color from light brown to dark. Provides balanced, resonant tone with notable sustain. Thick bottom end, rich midrange, and controlled, warm top end.

Back and Side Wood

Sapele is similar both visually and tonally to dense mahogany, but both darker and harder, giving it a strong visual presence and a bit more upper-harmonic content and low-end clarity. It's a read more good choice for many sizes and shapes, and works well for strumming and fingerstyle.

Electronics

Featuring a micro-USB interface for easy recording, the Fishman ISYS-301 USB Preamp System includes a side-mounted preamp with rotary controls for volume, tone (bass/treble), and phase; a Fishman Sonicore pickup; onboard easy-to-read 7-segment LED tuner; and ISYS+ USB combination battery box with 1/4" output and USB jack.

I had purchase the Stage Concert from Breedlove with laminate Rosewood back and sides and absolutely love the sustain and chimy sound the guitar produced. I also wanted to have a mahogany top guitar and found an affordably priced Breedlove Pursuit model that had a Mahogany top with laminate Sapele back and sides. This is a more forward sounding guitar with great articulation and warm tones. It's not as punchy as a spruce top but for singer-songwriters, or those that just want to play in a room by themselves this guitar won't over power you. As usual,l quality and finish is superior but both guitars did need some setup, but that's a given with many new guitars. In the case of the Stage Concert the action was too low and I was getting a buzz on the low E. With the Pursuit Dreadnought, the action was high to low with an adjustment needed in the neck. No big deal. Both sound great and if you're in the market for a quality instrument that is as good as a $1000 instrument this guitar is for you. It's a keeper! I would have given it a slightlly higher rating is the setup was a little better., so my "ease of use" rating is rated a slightly lower.
