Heritage Audio i73 Pro One 2x4 USB Audio Interface

zZounds Gear Experts Say...
HA serves up the old-school analog experience! This USB-C interface rocks a built-in 1073-style Class A preamp, and cutting-edge DSP for monitoring and FX.
Overview
The i73 PRO One aims to provide musicians, producers and audio engineers with an easy path to that cherished analog experience that have inspired music creation since the early '70s. The i73 PRO One incorporates the same Class A transformer-balanced circuitry as Heritage's classic 73 style preamps, so you'll be able to capture your signals with all that classic mojo and vibe but, for the first time, straight from the i73 PRO One to your computer.
As with any of Heritage Audio's 73 style preamps, a three way input is implemented so, whether you want to track vocals through the hearty MIC preamp with up to 70dBs of gain, an electric guitar/bass through the fast, dynamic JFET DI or the clean LINE inputs you'll be able to route whatever the signal may be on to your DAW with true studio quality. But a 73 style Class A preamp is only the gate to get to the Full Analog Experience. A low latency monitoring mixing console has been developed from the ground up so you'll always hear what you need to, either through your speakers or headphones, each with their own, independent configurable mix within the Heritage Audio MIXER running inside the i73 PRO One.
Process your tracks in real time within Heritage Audio's MIXER with an ever-growing comprehensive set of tools modeled after Heritage Audio's own outboard and private gear collection running internally over i73 PRO One's DSP. Record both DRY and WET streams from the MIXER to your DAW at the same time. You can even insert third party… read more native plugins via the MIXER's Aux channels. i73 PRO One gives you the right tools to monitor your work just like in the Golden Era of recording studios out of the box so you can capture your tracks in to your DAW and finish the job taking advantage of a modern home studio workflow.

Well let me start by saying I love Heritage Audio gear ! There good people as well . They care about the Artist and if you need help there the best in customer service department if u have an issue . But ! The i73 pro one ! It took me 2-3 hours just to get it to work . There’s so much you have to do to get it up and Running . 1st Frustration . My 2nd is The Mic preamp on board . There a little iffy on the real info of it . It sounds ok ! Nothing special . No mojo to be had . And I think this isn’t a 1073 that they have in there rackable gear ! I’m sure they had to think outside the box to fit things in this interface . But the output isn’t really an output knob . IMO it’s more of a Trim knob ! That’s the sound I get from it . It’s confusing cuz you can see the gain knob and use it to get gain but it’s not matching what a real stand alone mic preamp could do . And it’s more of a gimmicky mic pre on top of an interface ! With a trim knob ! Maybe one small input transformer and the output has to be some type of chip and not a transformer cuz the output isn’t giving what you would think ! All a round they got to work on this part more ! And the mixer ! It’s so confusing . Right out the box the plug ins are not workin and there’s issues tryin to use them on INPUT 1 . The mixer needs a lot of work . Too complicated and I got overwhelmed . I wanted to keep it and just try to learn more and maybe I would like it more but the more I messed with it the more stressed…

out I got . It just isn’t for me ! It shouldn’t be this hard to record , find a decent vocal level and then use plug ins to mix or use plug ins so u can hear vocals better while recording . But no ! If they can fix the mixer better and really get a 1073 onboard with inputs and outputs of Carnhill transformers ! I’m All in . But even the headphone output isn’t great . Too much bass and not accurate sound at all . Doesn’t even get loud ! I tried to upgrade from my Apogee Element 24 ! But it was a downgrade ! This Apogee element 24 even in 2k24 is more top notch than what’s new today smh the apogee mixer control is easy and plug ins are a piece of cake and sound superior ! And Apogee headphone output smokes the i73 and it’s 7 years old . I love Heritage and I’m Returning the i73 and got a real HA73 mic pre single channel rackmount . If they come with a NEW version of the i73 with all flaws fixed with real mic pre with better headphone output all buy in a heartbeat ! But I’m still getn there Audio gear just not the interface . Zzounds is top tier customer service and Heritage is as well ! Nothing personal just my preference ! And Heritage is doin great things and I can’t wait to see what’s coming in the Future ! MY HA73 is on the way so I’m happy about that !
