Fuchs Mantis Jr. Guitar Amplifier Head (50 Watts)

No longer available at zZounds
Metalheads rejoice! The Mantis Jr. 50-watt head dishes out modern, shred-worthy tone thanks to the strident clipping structure of its high gain channel.

The Fuchs Mantis Jr. Series of amps answers the demand for a heavier sounding amp in the Fuchs line-up. The Mantis Jr. is based on the ODS/Casino sized chassis platform, has two channels with a shared Bass, Middle, Treble tone stack, a passive effects loop, and 4-8-16 ohm outputs and will include a 2-way foot switch for channel switching and gain boost. The two channels each feature a distinct voicing: Channel-1 is a traditional classic English style EQ with tons of gain on tap, cleans up easily from the guitar, and works equally well for chunky rhythm or "brown sound" lead tones. Channel-2 features a higher gain structure with a more strident clipping structure for "modern rock and metal tones".

This amp also features a foot controlled preset gain boost, has both a presence and thrust control which alter the damping and voicing of the high and low end of the power amp section respectively.

I have searched high and low for a high gain amp with that vintage chewy response . Its a shame i didnt find this when i had the money but im saving as we speak .You have to sift through the demos on youtube and definitely use headphones to get the idea of what the tone is . It has great cleans but can get very saturated ...but its less in the tight range and more of a spongy sound . I love that sound but many amps like Orange and Randall eod 88 get into the muddy doom sound . This retains clarity unless you use muddy pups and dime the gain so it has that sound as an option . The youtube demos are not the best , but if you know how to read between the lines - you can tell this is a harmonically rich, touch sensitive amp .I want it bad . Its been out a few years and there are few reviews so i hope they keep it in production.
