18-in/12-out rackmount audio interface. 24-bit / 96kHz digital audio.
The latest computer interface solution from TASCAM brings many of the audio and MIDI interface features of the FW-1884 to a rackmountable format with the new FW-1804. It features four great-sounding XLR microphone inputs with analog inserts and phantom power for professional condenser mics. An additional four line inputs are provided, plus ADAT and S/PDIF digital connection for a total of 18 inputs and 12 outputs. Two MIDI inputs and four MIDI outputs round out the interfacing with pro touches like word clock and a guitar-level input.

The FW-1804 includes TASCAM's latest software bundle, including 48-track/96k Cubase LE recording software, GigaStudio 3 LE software sampler and dozens of Nomad Factory plug-in demos. The FW-1804 is the solution for anyone looking for a universally-supported audio/MIDI interface without the room for a control surface.

"Tascam still delivers . . ."
It will take a mighty nice unit (with a price to match) to coerce me into buying something else. I looked for two years before finding this"just right" unit.
Not too bad for 500 bucks.
18 ins and a bunch of outs! 'nuff, I'd say
Good quality. 500 buck quality.
I cannot complain about the price/value ratio on the FW 1804. Have to say, it is certainly worth the price.
Manufacturer Support
Prepare to wait a while with Tascam. Seems they are quite busy. Could be because they are a HUGE outfit, and have to deal with a bunch of questions?
The Wow Factor
I have seen some units that "look a little snazzier" but this one is no slouch, either. It's cleanly designed, and well thought out. I wish the phantom power switch had a light indicator though.
Musical Background:
Some, well, OK, a lot
Musical Style:
