8-track, 24-bit hard disk recorder workstation.

The 788 Digital Portastudio was designed to give you the latest in recording technological innovation while keeping the ease of use and superb value that's made Portastudios the best-selling multi-track recorders in the world. Its excellent audio quality and nonlinear editing capabilities make it perfectly applicable for even professional-quality recording projects. Plus, its built-in high-quality effects make it a totally self-contained digital studio...just hook up a CD burner to the SCSI port, and your album is ready to go.

The various inputs on the 788 can accept mic and line levels. An HiZ switch is also provided so you can plug your guitar or bass directly into the 788. Stereo outputs for mixing down, monitor outputs to send audio to your speakers and aux outputs are all included on individual connectors. Also, MIDI In and Out jacks are provided for syncing your audio tracks to synthesizer and software-based sequencers or other devices that use MIDI Time Code, MIDI Machine Control, and MIDI Clock. An S/PDIF digital output makes it easy to send your audio to CD and DAT recorders for 2-track masters. 250 virtual tracks for comps and alternate takes.

Sound
The sound is absolutely pristine...(Ultra clean)..
Features
One of the facts about this unit that I like the most is six simultaneous inputs for recording. This unit also has 999 undo/recall levels and 250 virtual tracks per song (An absolutely stellar feature that even units twice the price that boast more initial tracks don't have.) Alot of other units only allow simultaneous recording on 2 to 4 tracks yet they boast claim to 8, 12, or 16 etc... Whats the use of having all those extra faders on the otside of the box if you can't really use the simultaneously.
Quality
The build quality of this product in my opinion is very good.
Value
It is more than worth the price.
Manufacturer Support
I have dealt with TEAC before and TASCAM is a division of the same company. I absolutely love their customer service. They are always making updates to their products readily available to customers.
The Wow Factor
