Numa X Piano GT is the flagship Studiologic product, which features Fatar newest wooden hammer action keyboard TP/400 Wood with 3 contacts and Escapement, plus Aftertouch control. The GT version also includes very elegant solid wood side panels for a refined look. Their SL88 was always on my must buy list. Now more than ever before StudioLogic is showing the world they can make a world class digital piano for their world-class hammer action flagship keybed. Even though I primarily work with semi weighted keybeds, I always appreciated a good hammer action keybed whenever I had one. I had a DGX 650 and a P45 at various times over the past 4 years. I picked up an Modx8 thinking I would find a nice compromise of workstation, synth, and digital piano. I was so wrong. That was a worst feeling keybed I'd ever felt. I returned it, rethought my objectives and needs, and ended up being won over by the new StudioLogic Numa X GT. The big seller for me was that it had a very advanced keybed, from their own parang company, Fatar. The TPS400 has some pretty slick features aside from being wood and having a very convincing ivory touch finish on the keys. The escapement on this thing allows for some rapid playing without having to lift up the key past the velocity trigger points or something of the like. Honestly I'm not even that good so I couldn't say if it works good. I am taking lessons again so perhaps some day. The one thing I have a generally good sense of is whether a keybed feels like a piano. I grew playing on both an upright (girlfriend's) and a grand (mom's house). It was not surprising to me when I instantly clicked with the Numa X gt. Great UI. Very VERY good pianos (sure, maybe not as flashy as the Nord piano samples, but they're much better… read more than all Yamaha and Roland offerings. If you're about to drop 2 grand on a Yamaha stage piano or Kawaii, think twice about it. The numa x is the most Inspiring and rewarding digital piano I've ever played. I'm actually getting better and playing. The action, response, and sound quality are just SO high on this thing. The best part for me is that it doesn't feel out of place. This was probably my most rewarding purchase where I had zero regret or hesitation. The numa x gt is now a part of our house. It's upstairs in the living room, not in my studio on a k&m stand. It's there because I wanted something to play at any time. Also to keep my kids interested in piano, remind my wife I can play covers once in a while, and to be able to get some song ideas down or just noodle without going off the grid in the basement studio. My family gets to see me much more these days. The ONLY downside I could see is the layering programming takes a little while to get used to. And it's kind of heavy so gigs might not be as enjoyable as an ultralight. This is studio staple / flagship piano though, not a gig beater travel piano. I plan to have this one a long time.
