The sE Electronics VR1-NG is a passive ribbon microphone with the extended top end that the VR series is known for. Where a traditional ribbon rolls off early, the VR1's hand-tensioned 2.5 micron aluminum ribbon and sE's mechanical design, drawn up by founder Siwei Zou, reach up to 18 kHz for detail and air without harshness. Guitar cabinets get bite and edge instead of muddy highs, and vocals, overheads, strings, piano, woodwinds, and brass keep their natural character.

The VR1 is fully passive, so it needs no power and is protected against accidental phantom. Figure-8 pickup, 135 dB SPL handling, and a 300-ohm output make it an easy match for any preamp, and the all-metal housing with a gold-plated XLR rejects interference and stands up to years of sessions.

This version ships with three purpose-built accessories: the SHM12 shock mount isolates the mic from stand-borne vibration and handling noise, the low-profile MC44 clip mounts it fast, and the WS12 foam windscreen tames breath blasts and shields the ribbon during close vocal work. A soft case is included.
