Proven Neodymium magnets, tight production tolerances & high-end workmanship ensure excellent sensitivity, superior sound quality and superb consistency.

Patented Integrated Shock Mount

The V7's patented shockmount efficiently decouples the capsule from mechanical vibration, providing exceptionally low handling noise as compared to other mics in its class. This means you can feel free to move around on stage without fear of rumbles, pops, or anything other than your voice coming through.

Look, I know its more or less blasphemy to hate on the SM58... I'm not hating on it, its obviously a tested and trusted long standing microphone.. but if you're looking to spend $100 on a handheld mic today and your voice is a little.. different?? You should read this... For the same price.. you can have this.. the sE V7.. Everyone is different, from their voice, to performing/recording area to mic technique... But for me, Shure have always been "eh...decent" while others just do a much better job entirely. The same can be said in this case. Any SM/Beta 58, or similar handheld from Shure.. my voice just sounds bad and boxy in comparison to mics that run a bit.. "brighter" ??? Which is where the V7 series from sE Electronics comes into play.A perfect example of this is my go-to sitting/studio mic, the RE320.. very bright, runs pretty hot, but for the low, droning, monotonous nightmare that is MY VOICE.. it works beautifully, where as the, understandably popular, SM7B just makes MY voice sound even WORSE..My best guess (as I'm not an expert or audio engineer) is that some mics that just run a on a bit less gain and are a little "brighter" overall have an easier time picking MY voice apart from a lot of your common background noises and hums like ACs, fans, lights etc.. So.. if you do podcasts, comedy, (or I'd assume even singing depending on what you're going for) and you've already got MORE than enough natural low end/bass that you're USUALLY EQing to add clarity to?? Try something read more like the V7 for for handheld, and the RE320 from EV for more studio/sitting.. I mentioned EQ and that's essentially the BIG point here. The biggest, for me, and one of the most amazing things about these brighter mics for MY voice, is that I don't even have to add EQ and it sounds PERFECT.. (Doing the usual shelf/passes obviously for the absolute top and bottom but.. nothing else at ALL). Where as I could grab a 58.. and either do the same thing and just try to live with what I HEAR knowing is not as good as it could be, or.. spend EXTRA TIME either setting up and/or worrying about an EQ.. And at the end of the day if you're working in production and using the hardware too... You really want whatever is going to create less work and fewer headaches at the end of the day in post.. Why not remove more tedious aspects the EQing from that task?I actually like this thing so much that I went out and found a small store that had TWO of the limited "Vintage Edition" run of it.. absolutely gorgeous mic, but being limited.. I still use this one the most... More on that below.Other than just being able to pick out certain voices better without having to EQ.. When it comes to other aspects of a handheld dynamic.. ---------------------Build quality.. Feels like a ROCK.. weight is very nice and feels quality. I can't PERSONALLY speak on how well it might or might not hold up to actual abuse/wear/tear because I'm one of those computer and tech geeks that pampers and babies any bit of equipment, gear, kit, tech, etc.. so for all I actually know the XLR port might blow out the end if it gets dropped from 12" but.. I HIGHLY doubt it.. this thing feels like its made solid, regardless of manufacturing region.---------------------Handing noise.. practically non-existent. Right on par with the 58's.. If you TRY to cause it, sure of course it will, like all others, but.. even with my bad mic technique this thing picks up nothing. I tend to grab the mic stand occasionally, which is not picked up either, for anyone else who may do that.---------------------Accessories in the box and presentation.. again.. no different than you'd get opening a 58.. and no complaints whatsoever either. I would love to see more mic companies doing what EV does with the RE series and give actually protective cases as opposed to the sleeves that ALL companies (including EV on their handhelds and others) prefer to use to save costs.. I get it, but, at the same time.. if Behringer can do it and sell those things as cheap as they are..??? Hard to argue not at least giving a generic case like they do. ---------------------Aesthetics.. Ok I hope this word doesn't get this review removed, but my god, this thing is sexy.. The black grill with the red shining through?? The Vintage edition I managed to find comes with a chrome grill, which I'm sure looks good in the product photography but I think is a little "loud" (no pun intended) for me personally.. Thank you zZounds, again for coming through for me in so many ways.. zZounds actually sells just the flat GRAY grill replacement for the V7, which I picked up to go on the Vintage edition in case it's a bit much under lighting etc.At this point, if I had never found the RE320, I'd honestly be looking at picking up something from sE for a more sit-down/studio dynamic. I know they have one for certain but know nothing about it honestly. I just know I am very impressed as a first time customer of this company.
