Overview
One of the most versatile guitars in the PRS Core line up, the 509 with a Trampas Green flame maple non-10 Top starts with a 5 single coil platform - with the outside two coils grouped as humbuckers. The addition of the 509's innovative switching system, which consists of a 5-way blade switch and two mini coil-tap switches, gives players an array of humbucking, single-coil, and blended tones. While the 5-way blade switch gives players the expected pickup selection, the mini coil-tap switches work to split the outside grouped coils and add some much appreciated in-between tones. Additional unique appointments include a longer 25.25" scale length, which adds some upper harmonic sparkle, and the PRS Gen III Patented Tremolo.
"The 509 is a "Swiss-army-knife" five pickup/nine sound instrument with a highly-usable switching system that has evolved in recent years through experimentation, feedback, and experience. The 509 model was first introduced as the Private Stock May 2016 Guitar of the Month, celebrating Private Stock's 20th Anniversary. With its longer scale length (25.25"), middle single coil pickup, and easy-to-use integrated electronics control package, the 509 is perfect for single coil players who want the added tonal versatility of humbucking and humbucking + single coil sounds in one… read more guitar.
