My trusty Spider IV bit the dust after 15 years of service and I started shopping around. My first stop was obviously the Spider V but after one look at the hideously redesigned control panel, I started looking elsewhere. However, after exhausting all my other options I decided to give this baby a try and I am so glad I did.Line 6 has done away with their generic base amp models (Clean/Crunch/Metal/Insane etc.) in favor of specific amp models and I cannot believe the sound this thing puts out. It has all the crispness of your average solid state amp but it's tube simulation is unreal. In particular The model "Mississippi Criminal" (2002 Peavey 5150) hits like a truck for all things metal and "Spinal Puppet" is my go-to for that full 80's crunch (Def Leppard, etc.). The cleans are also extremely concise and they don't get washed out like they often did in previous iterations of this amp.Despite the horrendous facelift suffered by the UI in this latest iteration of Line 6's digital series, the sound is unmatched.
