State of the Art
Korg's digital recording studios are acclaimed for their superior audio quality and unparalleled ease of use. The D1600mkII provides uncompressed 24 bit, 44.1 kHz high-quality recording and playback, providing full fidelity with a wide dynamic range that captures every sonic detail.

Using the intuitive TouchView Graphic Interface, you can instantly access all of the D1600mkII's amazing features, bypassing pages of menus and saving you time.

High-Level Performance
The D1600mkII features a 24-channel, 8-bus digital mixer with sixteen 60 mm faders, which let you make smooth, precise level adjustments. With the 16 faders and pan knobs, the D1600mkII allows you to do your mix in real time, without the hassle of multiple fader groups. A variety of audio sources can be connected directly, ranging from mic level to a +16 dBu level, with 4 XLR inputs, balanced TRS jacks and a dedicated guitar input jack right on the front panel. For increased connectivity, the D1600mkII provides 24-bit optical S/PDIF digital IN/OUT, and MIDI IN and OUT.

The D1600mkII's recorder section provides 8 virtual tracks for each of its 16 tracks, so you can literally record up to 128 tracks read more (16 x 8 virtual tracks) for each song!

Serious EQ and Effects
Each analog input and mixer channel has its own high and low shelving EQ, plus adjustable-frequency mid EQ. The D1600mkII has separate EQs for the inputs and the mixer, assuring that the EQ settings for recording remain distinct from those set for playback.

The effects section of the D1600mkII consists of multiple effects processors, providing 192 preset and 192 user effect programs. In every song, you can assign up to 8 insert effects, plus 2 masters and a final processing effect.

Mix Automation and Sophisticated Editing
Mixer settings such as fader, EQ, pan, and effects can be stored in a scene, and up to 100 scenes can be stored for each song. D1600mkII mixer data, such as fade and pan, can be transmitted and received via MIDI.

Since this recorder is fully digital, you can easily edit and arrange your songs with operations such as copy, insert, and paste. You can also set 4 Locate points and up to 100 Mark points per song for instant navigation. An assortment of edit tools can help you polish your tracks even further: you can swap audio regions - or all data in tracks - with other tracks, plus you can Reverse, Optimize, Normalize, Fade In or Out, or Expand/Compress track data. The Undo and Redo functions give you up to 99 levels of undo.

Internal Hard Drive with USB Access
Housed inside the D1600mkII is a large 40 GB hard drive, providing a whopping 125 hours of recording time (at 16-bit recording, one track). Two GB of hard drive space (FAT 16 format) is automatically allocated as a USB drive that can be accessed from both the D1600mkII and directly from a computer. By saving song data or .WAV files in this area, you can easily backup or restore song data, import or export .WAV files, or even load system data. This makes it easy to move your songs into computer-based applications, and to even email song files via the Internet.

Enhanced CD Functions
The D1600mkII also includes an 32x CD-RW drive (10x re-write), which can be used to backup/restore data, to create multiple audio CDs, even to playback and record directly from an audio CD. The new 'Disk At Once' feature allows you to arrange your songs and burn them to CD in a single pass.

I do not for one minute regret buying this machine. I will use it until it dies, or until I die, whichever comes first. I don't think that any musician, serious or not about his music, will regret buying this machine. The end product it produces is very good and I have more people who have heard the CD's say that the quality is near perfect. You will not be dissatisfied. The only flaw that I can even brainstorm to find is the inputs on the rear of the machine and the EQ needs to be more sensitive and broad.

Sound
The whole band is in amazement at how well it sound, especially after the final mixdown.

Features
A bit overwhelming at first until you really learn how to use the features. It has all you need for the beginner to the advanced. If you have a electronic drum kit such as a Roland V Tour, or similar, The ability to direct record is amazing. NO MIC'ING OF AMPS. Studio quality recording and no ambient sounds to try to filter. I plug my POD XT LIVE floor pedal direct, keyboard direct, electronic drums brain direct, Bass amp direct, GNX 2000 floor pedal direct. IT IS WONDERFUL.

Ease of Use
Very simple to use. the manual, however, is kind of vague at times. More of a step-by-step and not a whole lot of explaining on some of the features.

Quality
Very well designed and built. Just will this model had all the inputs on top of the board instead of read more on the rear.

Value
Somehat pricey now that other newer models and other competitors who have developed the same thing run their's a little less.

Manufacturer Support
Have had no problems with this equipment.

The Wow Factor
Good machine for home recording, 16 tracks for the money is a steal. This machine looks great and performs great.
