I do not for one minute regret buying this machine. I will use it until it dies, or until I die, whichever comes first. I don't think that any musician, serious or not about his music, will regret buying this machine. The end product it produces is very good and I have more people who have heard the CD's say that the quality is near perfect. You will not be dissatisfied. The only flaw that I can even brainstorm to find is the inputs on the rear of the machine and the EQ needs to be more sensitive and broad.
Sound
The whole band is in amazement at how well it sound, especially after the final mixdown.
Features
A bit overwhelming at first until you really learn how to use the features. It has all you need for the beginner to the advanced. If you have a electronic drum kit such as a Roland V Tour, or similar, The ability to direct record is amazing. NO MIC'ING OF AMPS. Studio quality recording and no ambient sounds to try to filter. I plug my POD XT LIVE floor pedal direct, keyboard direct, electronic drums brain direct, Bass amp direct, GNX 2000 floor pedal direct. IT IS WONDERFUL.
Ease of Use
Very simple to use. the manual, however, is kind of vague at times. More of a step-by-step and not a whole lot of explaining on some of the features.
Quality
Very well designed and built. Just will this model had all the inputs on top of the board instead of on the rear.
Value
Somehat pricey now that other newer models and other competitors who have developed the same thing run their's a little less.
Manufacturer Support
Have had no problems with this equipment.
The Wow Factor
Good machine for home recording, 16 tracks for the money is a steal. This machine looks great and performs great.

"KORG D1600mkII HIGH QUALITY RECORDING AT A LOW PRICE"

Overall: 2.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
FOR THE MONEY, NOTHING SOUND THIS GOOD!
Features
I FIND THE GUITAR AND KEYBOARD EFFECTS OUTSTANDING. AS AN OLD KEYBOARD PLAYER, I REALLY APPRECIATE THE ATTENTION TO DETAIL IN THE ROTARY SPEAKER PATCH (2X2), WHEN THE LESLIE SPEAKER SIMULATION HAS THE LOWER DRUM SPEEDING UP AND SLOWING DOWN AT A DIFFERENT RATE FROM THE ROTATING TWEETERS. I USED TO OWN A LESLIE 147 AND THAT IS EXACTLY HOW THEY WORK.
Value
I REMEMBER BACK 30 YEARS AGO WITH MY FIRST STUDIO EXPERIENCE AND AM REALLY IMPRESSED WITH THE VALUE.
The Wow Factor
THE TOUCH SCREEN REALLY WORKS WELL

"Great Piece of Equipment!"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars

The only fault I can find with this recorder is that it has soooo many capabilities that it would take forever to really master them all. First rate commercial quality recordings can easily be produced, however, even by a novice. Still can't figure out how to use "Insert Effects." But I think that's because the manual is so poorly written regarding this. Very confusing. Obviously a very bad translation job...from Japanese to English. Outboard effects and processors will deliver much more flexibility,. Oh, and don't push too hard on any of those buttons or the touch screen. A light touch is all it takes.

I am satisfied and hope to be long term satisfied.
Sound
just started using it, and it has real nice clarity even at the lower sample rates (for the 16 track versus 8 track recording).
Features
lots of features - nice drum kits for 191 different rythms you can use until you find a human drummer to record with.
Quality
very nicely put together - seems real solid. The CD burner is a standard PC type, and obviously could be replaced easily if needed ever. I think with an appropriately padded suit case to pack it in, it could be easily transported.
Value
I think the value is pretty good at the going price ($1049).
Manufacturer Support
N/A - I have not needed support and hope I won't either.

"The Good Machine, The Bad Manual, and the Ugly Time Curve."

Overall: 3 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I'm frustrated with the manual, as I mentioned. I shouldn't be taking this long on editing and effects procedures. If it were to disappear, I'd take a look at the new 24 tracks.
Sound
The sound is good. I have really enjoyed the results of the D1600.
Features
Certainly the touch screen tab features are useful and fairly well orgainized.
Quality
I'd be a little hesitant to take it on the road.
Value
Fairly priced. I just wish I had saved up for a 24 track, as I'm constantly submizing.
Manufacturer Support
I have called Korg a few times, and they have been helpful. I'd call about the "track insert" problem, but they're closed, and I'm anxious to get a song done. Arghh.
The Wow Factor
Nice design.

"Da Bomb - The Korg D1600mkII"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I will be satisfied with this forever (or untill it breaks).
Sound
Perfect Sound. Perfect CD's. Perfect Piece of Equiptment.
Features
Gosh. Just too much stuff!!!
Quality
Very Very Good. The touch screen has to be pressed hard after a lot of use, but that's OK, because that's waaaaay later, after you buy it.
Value
A Little Pricey
Manufacturer Support
Very Friendly.
The Wow Factor
I really wanted it!!! I could put the songs I made up into a CD.

"Very Very cool"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I don't think there is another sixteen track recorder on the market that can compete with this baby.
Sound
The 24 bit sound quality is crystal clear. My only complaint on sound is the inability to select the 24 bit sound quality for all 16 tracks.
Features
One word-touchscreen.
Value
With aquired skills and technique beyond me, unfortunately, at the moment, it is perfectly possible to creat a near if not commercial quality recording with this device. Of course, good external effects, preamps, and mics would help as well.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't had any problems yet!
The Wow Factor
Well when it powered up for the first time and everything lighted up my bandmates went "oooh" and "ahhh" like fireworks were going off or something
