The distinctive sound of Birch shells has been a favorite of drummers for a long time. Gretsch's Catalina Birch Series provides drums with explosive attack with a deep low-end fundamental. Finished with 30-degree bearing edges and natural interiors to produce a Gretsch sound that is filled with tonal punch and depth, the standard configuration includes traditional sized 8x12 inch and 9x12 inch toms, which blend quick response with deep, full tones. The 16x16 inch floor tom for provides enhanced low-end depth. Classic Gretsch Drums are finished in high-quality, durable wraps or in high gloss UV burst lacquer.

"Beautiful sounding set"

This may well be the best sounding set I've ever heard for the money or otherwise. I tune drums professionally and I have tuned and heard some pretty impressive sounding sets like DW Collectors series, Ludwig Legacy's, Pearl Masterworks, etc. and I would easily rank the sound I get from my Catalina Birch set right up there with any of those costing 3 to 4 times as much. A better than great value!

I have been playing drums for 37 years, performing for 36 years and teaching them for 31 years.

Musical Style:

Swing Jazz, Rock, Country, Pop, and Blues for openers.
