The flagship of the SG range, the SG Standard 2017 T represents a superb blend of historic looks and tone and contemporary versatility and playability. Its iconic asymmetrical double-horned body styling and smaller 'teardrop' pickguard harken back to the originals of the early '60s, and the Classic '57 and '57 + humbuckers likewise take you straight back to those hallowed PAF tones. When uncompromising performance matters, locking Grover kidney-button tuners, a slim taper neck, rosewood fingerboard with rolled binding, and a modern aluminum Tune-o-Matic bridge and stop bar tailpiece with elegant chrome plating provide a stylish and modern SG playing experience. The SG Standard 2017 T is delivered in a classic Gibson hardshell case with a Gibson premium leather strap.

Us lefties seldom have the opportunity to go into a local music store and try several before buying. The 2017 specs caught my attention. So I ordered one and quite frankly finish was rather good. the neck was sweet, and the sound was horrible to my ears. It was a dud. I have another axe with 57 Classics and the first one just did not even come close. I so much wanted to like the first one and objectively, it would have sat in it's case and never be played had I kept it. Thanks to zZounds return/exchange policy, I decided to give a replacement a try. Glad I did! The second one's fit, finish, and sound was night and day different. Much closer to what I had expected in the first place. The 2017 SG Standard T is a keeper. I believe time will tell the 2017 model to be a very good year. Pick one up while you still can...
