Gibson Custom 50th Anniversary 1968 Les Paul Goldtop Electric Guitar (with Case)

In the summer of 1968, Gibson did something unprecedented. They re-released two guitar models that were discontinued a decade earlier, a Les Paul Custom and a Les Paul Goldtop. Many famous guitarists at the time adopted 1950s Les Paul models because of their heavy tones, vocal qualities and endless sustain, creating a demand for the classic body style that continues through today.

This 50th Anniversary 1968 Les Paul Goldtop is a meticulously-crafted replica of a "first batch" example from 1968, identified by a crown inlay on the face of the headstock instead of the typical Les Paul silkscreen. The distinctive look and scarcity of this variation makes it extremely desirable to collectors. Gibson Custom Shop has proudly recreated it in exhaustive detail, from precise contours to era-correct construction methods. Each one of these limited-edition instruments features a VOS (light patina) finish and includes an exclusive 1968-style case, a collectible switch plate medallion, throwback hang tags, guitar picks, and a copy of the 1968 Gibson Gazette which announced the new Les Paul models to the world. Only 68 guitars will be produced for this run.
