zZounds Gear Experts Say...
Perfect for smaller sized concert or auditorium instruments and nylon string classical guitars.
Overview
The list of Acoustic Matrix users reads like a who's who of acoustic musicians. The secret of this under-saddle pickup's sound (and popularity) lies in its proprietary co-polymer pickup and active endpin-mounted preamp.
The Fishman Matrix Natural I acoustic guitar pickup is perfect for smaller sized concert or auditorium instruments and nylon string classical guitars, due to use slight bass boost in the preamp. This version can also work well in some larger guitars, especially at low to medium stage volumes.

I am searching for a way to keep a guitar strap on and I do not have one at this point. It may be a long and arduous search
Sound
The sond is "decent" but not great and it took a lot of Luthering to get it properly place (and money) .. but the worst I have not resolved -- straps will not stay on it .. seven with special (expensive) guitar straps there is not way to *lock* the strap on (and it tends to come off) without disabling the microphone jack. That could have been resolved with a flared end, but they did not choose to do that. It is very risky to use a strap on this product (kiss you guitar good bye -- or find another way.
Features
I had to have the pickup re-fitted into the guitar twice before the sound was picking up. Luthiers complain about the difficulty. The battery replacement is also difficult. The lack of a strap lock-on makes it exctremely risky to use a strap.
Ease of Use
Noty an easy productt to use (other than sitting with the amp next to you)
Quality
It is a good quality product but not well designed for use
Value
Since the competeitots are the same this one is a case of you get what you pay for ..
Manufacturer Support
Guitars generally have poor support and need a lot of expensive tinkering to get them right
The Wow Factor
It is good and has a name. ONCE all the fitting and batteries and screwing around is DONE .. THEN it is trouble free ... except for a guitar strap
