I had a couple of blankets in my drum for obvious dampening but when I put the Evans EQPAD in, it dampened less. I personally prefer the dampening of the blankets versus the Evans EQPAD. Maybe if you had two of them...one for the batter head and one for the resonant but I feel the EQPAD aren't thick enough to do the job a thick blanket does. I can't say I would recommend this over a blanket but I am sure it is better than nothing.
