"Fantastic!"

I've been a Blues player my whole life ( I'm 60, played since age 5). Had literally hundreds of guitars over the years, but never had an old style Sheraton ( not referring to the the Sheraton II, but this specific Sheraton, with Frequensator tail piece and mini humbuckers). Love It!!! Should have purchased one sooner. Let me get the few negatives out of the way first: Set up was waaaayyyy too high. Easy fix. Strings were not to my taste, (these were some sort of Gibson brand strings). I replaced with my favorites. Again, easy fix. The case??? The flimsiest gig bag I ever saw. This baby needs a good hardshell case, again, easy fix. Now, the guitar itself: Fit, finish and hardware were perfect. Intonation was perfect. The mini humbuckers?? Fantastic. Good clean almost acoustic sounding when played clean. They are clear, crisp and well defined. With a bit of overdrive, this thing screams! Longest sustain I have ever heard from any guitar I ever owned. Crisp, clear, bell like tones, without the muddiness of full sized humbuckers. Rich tone, and each note in a chord is clearly audible. The laurel fingerboard was easily passable as a rosewood board, same texture and feel. I personally prefer ebony fingerboards, but it is what it is here. And it feels good. Gold hardware was very good, with Grover machine heads. Nut could use a small bit of work, but again, not a real issue, just my own preferences. The Frequensator tail piece is interesting, and seems to be the reason for such a unique…

sound in this guitar. Maybe, maybe not, but it looks cool, and very old school. Balance and feel of the guitar while standing up is perfect, and the feel of it while sitting down, again, very comfortable. To be honest, the natural finish ( the color, not the actual finish itself) looks a bit bland with not much wood grain or 'tiger striping', but this is also not a $4500 guitar either. However, it is pleasing, without the 'gaudiness' of some finishes. Plain Jane wood, nothing exciting, but it grows on you. But the sound...oh my...the sound. As a gigging professional, I buy, sell and trade all the time, looking for that 'Holy Grail'...this comes close. For me, it's a keeper.
