Drum Workshop has done it again with the Pacific Drums Concept maple 5-piece shell kit. These boutique-inspired drums offer pro features a fresh look and are affordable to every drummer. The specifications include 7 ply maple toms with graduated counter hoops, 7 ply bass drums with die cast claws for easy tuning, 10 ply snare drums with the MAG throw off, popular shell sizes and depths with STM suspension mounts, true pitch tuning rods, low mass lugs, Remo drum heads and high gloss lacquer finishes.

I just got this kit in the mail the other day, and wow. The mounting system is beautiful. The toms can be adjusted to any angle and any height thanks to a ball and socket. The bass drum and mounted toms look amazing. The sound of the mounted toms are flat out amazing. No annoying overtones and not too much resonance (even with the stock heads). Contrary to a review I read, I found the floor tom to be the easiest to tune. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the snare. It sounds awfully metallic for a maple snare, but after some adjusting, I was able to get the pop I was looking for. I was also sent the wrong snare that had a broken snare wire. I called PDP, and they remedied the issue without question, so manufacturer support is a 5, no doubt. Overall, I couldn't be happier with this kit. It is so hard to believe that this kit is only $699. In the future, I will also buy the 8'' add on tom. Amazing kit.
