By duplicating the traditionally weak magnetic field of PAF pickups, the strings vibrate longer and deliver an articulate attack and output. DiMarzio winds one coil at a time on their computer-controlled winding machines, guaranteeing correct layering of the custom-coated 42-gauge wire to achieve the exact frequency response they want. The assembled pickups are then dipped in a wax formula, eliminating squeal and microphonics when played at high volume.
