Audio-Technica AT2040 Hypercardioid Dynamic Podcast Microphone

Heads up, podcasters and streamers! Capture your voice with the AT2040 -- an outstanding value as the little brother to A-T's BP40 pro broadcast vocal mic.

Taking cues from the BP40 broadcast microphone, the rugged AT2040 dynamic microphone brings professional broadcast-quality sound and style to podcasters and other content creators at an accessible price.

The mic's multistage windscreen combines a non-woven filter with foam mesh to provide superior internal pop filtering, while its integrated shock mount prevents unwanted noise by attenuating vibration from a boom arm or mic stand. The highly directional pickup (hypercardioid) keeps the sound focused on your voice and helps to minimize unwanted room noise, ensuring professional-quality broadcasts.

The microphone comes with a pivoting stand mount, 5/8"-27 to 3/8"-16 threaded adapter, and a soft protective pouch.

So I bought this mic to use instead of a AT2020 mic, which tends to pick up a lot of the ambient sounds in my apartment when I'm trying to record vocals into my tracks when producing music. I don't have a booth or anything like that, so I got this mic because of it's pickup pattern and the fact that you have to be right in front of it for the most part. I have a deep late night Dj voice, and this mic picks it up very well. I would like to try a Shure SM7B just to see what all the fuss is about, but I HAVE seen people say that this mic sounds as good as the Shure for a much lower price. Again I haven't tested that, but I hope to in the near future. This mic gets the job done and mount to my blue mic arm without issue. The sound is great and it feels nice and sturdy. I give it 5 stars all around!
