Want to try a completely different type of MIDI controller? Check out the Artiphon Instrument 1, the controller that you can strum, tap, slide, and drum on!
Overview
The Artiphon INSTRUMENT 1 is a new kind of digital instrument that adapts to the way you play. It's the first MIDI controller that lets you strum, slide, tap, and drum any sound on a single interface.
The INSTRUMENT 1 has been designed to be played in multiple positions. A guitarist might hold the instrument like a guitar, or use the available Artiphon INSTRUMENT 1 Strap, while a cellist might enjoy holding the ergonomic instrument body upright. Beatmakers and finger drummers will discover a familiar grid surface when the INSTRUMENT 1 is laid flat. The instrument can even be held like a violin, against the player's neck.
Want to play a technique you've already mastered? String players of all kinds will find a familiar interface when the INSTRUMENT 1 is tuned like a guitar, bass, cello, violin, banjo, or any other traditional instrument. The ability to tune each string individually is one of many customizations these performers can take advantage of.

"It tries to be everything"
It’s a piano that makes for a horrible MIDI guitar. And it’s a MIDI guitar that makes for a horrible piano. The frets are evenly spaced, so it’s unintuitive and the strumming hand is odd because you have to hit the flaps. Even little details like how the flaps are not in-line with the “strings”. It’s just odd. And bad. I returned it.
