"It's Perfect For My Needs - MPC One"
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
I have owned both an MPC 3000 and MPC 1000 in the past, sold them both back in about 2009 once I got into full-fledged DAW production (Reason and Logic Pro), I felt as if I didn't really need them anymore. I now feel as if I shot myself in the foot, given how much they're now worth today. Fast -forward to 2020, and enter the MPC One. All I can say is that it's awesome! I know that some people complain about the small pads, they aren't that small, but they are smaller than the MPC X's pads. The pads are responsive. I don't have fat fingers so it's not an issue. This MPC is everything that MPC's of MPC past wish that they could be. People who want those old units simply want them for nostalgia sake, you cannot justify using those outdated machines over something that is modern and compatible with your DAW. The MPC 2 software is really good too, I have bought a few expansions and I have a large sample library from Splice which syncs with this machine. It's perfect for my needs, I still use Reason and Logic which are both fully capable and can do everything an MPC can do, but sometimes you just want a new toy and beating on pads to make beats is second to nothing. The sequencer and sampler are perfect, making your own kits is easy. Buy yourself a USB thumb drive and a SD Card and you'll be straight. My one single complaint is the small headphone jack on the front. It feels flimsy, but not a deal breaker for me since I don't use it anyway. It should be a 1/4 read more inch for a professional piece of gear. Period. If you're on the fence about buying one, do it. It's perfect, fun, nice to travel with, and it doesn't take up too much space on my desk. It feels good to get back to the sampling vinyl workflow. The drum sounds and one shots that come with it are very good, I don't care for the 3 plugins(Tube Synth, Electric, and Bassline) but all of the effects are very good also. You can even mix and master on this thing if you want! Since I use it with Reason Suite, I'm not short on sounds and I mix there. This is the machine to buy. Cheaper than the Maschine Plus for a true standalone machine, however, Maschine Plus costs almost twice as much. If you use NI Komplete you don't need Maschine Plus if you're going to get this. If you want a mega blaster, get the MPC X. Most of us long time producers have sample libraries, and if you have a Splice account you'll be good to go on sounds. You can't lose.
