Ideal for the traveling performer, the AER Dual-Mix 2 is a pocket-sized 2-channel preamp, perfect for plugging a guitar and a microphone into a PA system.
Overview
The AER Dual-Mix is a 2-channel preamp for instrument/line or microphone signals. You can think of it as a small mixer, a DI to go straight into a PA, a line out to go to a monitor or amp, a headphone amp, or to add two additional channels to your amp.
The built-in effects on the Dual-Mix are great. There are two reverbs, a delay, and a chorus -- the same as in the AER Compact 60. The Level knob lets you decide how much of the effect you want to mix in with your signal. That works extremely. The reverbs are great and you can choose from short or long hall. The delay is 320ms and sounded really good. The chorus is quite subtle but gives just the right amount of 'zing' to the sound. You can also use the Pan knob to choose to have the effect on one channel or the other, or both, and to mix in the amount per channel, very cool. A footswitch can be connected to turn the effects on and off.
If you really want to expand the input into your amp, you can plug the Dual-Mix into the Return of the effects loop and have two additional channels to use. For a small acoustic duo, for example, they can plug one guitar and mic into the Compact 60 and another instrument and mic into the Dual-Mix plugged into the return and have a self-contained PA in one little amp. Awesome!
Another really great feature is the Aux In connecting an MP3 player and it has its own level control to mix with your instrument/microphone. It works really well and makes the Dual-Mix the ultimate late night practice tool.… read more
Bottom line on the Dual-Mix is that it is a fantastic little versatile unit that can perform many different functions. It can even take the place of an amp in many situations and allow you to go directly into the PA and sound great.
Like all the Pocket Tools, the Dual-Mix is built like a tank and is the size of a stompbox. It comes nicely packaged in its own little zipped bag. The manual is helpful and clear.
