"A firebird for $500"

I bought the olive drab firebird on sale for $500 and overall, at that price, it is 100% worth it. The neck is beefy, but I kind of love it. The pickups have a bright sound even in the neck, but also good deep bass notes to balance it out. The pots are not the best, I will probably end up replacing those because it’s either max volume/tone or hardly anything, no in between really unless you are really precise with the knobs. Setup is killer, nice low action, no sharp fret ends, feels even and smooth with needing nothing else straight out of the box. Put some effects pedals in the circuit and the sustain on this guitar lasts longer than any other guitar you have ever played. A real good blues machine, metal, RnB, LoFi, classic rock, you name it. This guitar can do that genre. The versatility of the pickups with different pedals and amps is incredible. I can go from playing stoner metal to Jimi Hendrix to spacey David Gilmour loops and this guitar just seems to be able to handle it all. It’s a big guitar but I’m also a taller guy (6 foot 1) so it actually looks normal on my body. If you are a smaller person, this is gonna be a big guitar, but not anything you can’t get used to. Biggest complaint I have is just with the pots not having a true range. Just kind of on or off. If you can get past that, this is an absolutely amazing guitar for $500 and worth every penny. So much fun straight out of the box.
