Feature:
It holds 400 cds. I really only need to hold 100-200 cds. Id be interested in a similar but smaller unit.
Quality:
After 18 months of moderate use, one latch is broken and the handle is broken. These both broke recently. SKB seems to replace a lot of handles and latches (judging from their website selling them) so it seems to me they have a known problem.
Sound:
Not applicable.
Ease of Use:
I dont like having to line up the top in the removable hinge mechanism to put the top back on, to close it up. Id rather have latches front and back to just be able to remove and put back the top with latches.
Support:
They gave me an RMA # to send it back for repair/ replacement at their option. Thats good except now i have to find a box and then spend $ to send it back, and then i wont have the item to use until i get a working unit back.

Feature:
I've used SKB portable racks for years with zero problems. This case I'm expecting to be the same quality. The extruded corner protection moldings are a great idea. My cheap ($25) Odyssey case fell apart at the corners....
Quality:
SKB supplies cases to the US military. Lightweight and heavy duty.
The plastic doesn't warp or discolor. Solid as a rock. If it's good enough for US military field operations, it should work in a nightclub pretty well too!
Value:
Compared to the Univenture DJ Express 400? Not sure. But I am guessing it's a better unit. You won't beat Univenture for CD sleeves- it's what they are know for. Likewise, SKB is known for rugged lightweight cases. I bought an Odyssey CD suitcase 3 months ago. It was cheap at $25. After heavy usage, it's come apart at the corners- cheap rivets. The SKB is molded, heavy duty plastic- so it won't tear up. It's the BEST value because you'll only buy one.
Desirability:
SKB doesn't do flash. It's pro gear for people who can tell the difference between a shiny, cheap facade and heavy duty pro quality.
So for the kid who thinks the reflective camo design is da bomb it may not be desirable since it's standard looking. But for the guy who knows quality it will have big appeal.
Support:
You can't deal directly with SKB unless you want a customized case- in which case you must order a minimum of 250 units. So, I am pleased SKB has tageted DJs with a customized product.
Overall:
I never expect to need another CD suitcase. I suppose this case ranks with Univenture's DJExpress 400 suitcase. But the Univenture case really does look like something an accountant would have, and I think SKB's deep experience with solid cases translates into this one for DJs.
I will post again after I receive this one, and give some detail. And you can be sure if it ever gives me trouble, I will post about that as well.
