Shure P2TRE2 PSM200 Series Wireless In-Ear System

No longer available at zZounds
The Shure P2TRE2 wireless in-ear system ensures accurate monitoring so you can properly hear yourself anywhere on stage.

Whether you're playing live or rehearsing, you need to hear yourself to be your best. That's what monitoring is all about. Yet some performers still struggle with booming floor wedge monitors and loud stage volume. Introducing the PSM200 - the personal monitoring break through that performers have been waiting for. Featuring smart, versatile components that grow with you as your needs change, the PSM 200 series is a practical alternative to floor wedges for performers who want to start out In Ear and stay there.

The P2R Hybrid Bodypack Receiver is the world's first bodypack receiver to function as a wired receiver, a wireless receiver, or both at the same time. This and other unique features, along with excellent sound quality, make the P2R an exceptional value.

The P2T Wireless TransMixer is another breakthrough design for personal monitoring. It allows the user to connect two line-level or mic-level inputs directly into the transmitter. The two signals can then be mixed independently. You can connect microphones or instruments directly to the inputs, use line outputs from a mixing console, or connect it to Shure's AuxPander. In short, no matter what the output device, you can probably plug it into the TransMixer.

The PSM200 model P2TRE2 wireless personal monitor system with mix control consists of the P2T Wireless Transmixer, the P2R Hybrid Bodypack Reciever, and clear SCL2 Sound Isolating Earphones.

Though I prefer the PSM400 system to this one (I have some of each), I recommend this highly to any band or musician who want to hear themselves clearly on a limited budget. Thumbs up to Shure for bringing quality in-ear monitors to the vast majority of gigging musicians who could not afford IEMs previously.

Sound
The sound quality is pretty good. It's a bit strange getting used to something in your ear, and the isolation that produces. The new ambient pack accessory helps a lot with that, lets you hear more naturally. I also have the PSM400 system, so I'm a bit spoiled by stereo (the PSM200 is mono). The E2s aren't quite as good as the E1s, and the E5 earbuds really rock. Still, great at the price.

Features
Good features at the price. Able to select different channels right from the body packs. Able to run wired or wireless with same gear. A two channel mixer built right into the transmitter. Auxiliary outputs on the back so you can chain multiple units together, or use them without a mixer board at a small coffee house type gig. Limiters in the belt packs and the receivers.

Quality
Pretty good build quality. Plastic cases, but take a pretty good beating and keep on working so far. Weakest point is where the tiny cord goes into the earbud, it will eventually break and have to be fixed. Good news is Shure service is excellent and will repair for next to nothing even if read more out of warranty. So far, my four units have been very reliable.

Value
This is by far the highest quality choice for in-ear monitors in this price range.

Manufacturer Support
Superb. Any warranty repairs done promptly with no charge, out of warranty repairs are at a very low fixed price. The best reason to buy from Shure.

The Wow Factor
It's really just a practical issue. Earbuds look a little dorky, I think.
