The TD-6V: More Than Just a New Look
The first thing you'll notice about the TD-6V Percussion Sound Module is the new black look and cool blue LCD screen. Like the original, this 64-voice module serves up 1,024 of Roland's best drum and percussion sounds and 262 backing instruments - but with newly created drum kits and patterns in the latest music styles. Dual-trigger tom inputs allow for rim shots on toms and expanded musical expression, while large, luminous buttons make the TD-6V very easy to use.

Roland TD6V Percussion Sound Module Reviews

"Great Kit, but do your homework on the module."
Feature:
I bought the entire TD6 V kit and it came with everything that you could possibly need to get started minus throne/BD pedal/sticks. I love the new rack system that come with the kit, but there are still some stability issues. I found that owning a riser and attaching the legs via plastic ties really reduces the shake that you get when playing. I also would reccomend at least a $150 set of headphones as they make such a difference.

Quality:
When you hit Tom1, sometimes it creates a cymbal sound. There are ways to fix this, but you would think they would have figured it out by now and fixed it. Other than that, I have played this thing at many a gig and have to say that everything is holding up quite well.

Value:
I paid 1100 for the entire kit so in my eyes this was well worth it. Considering a decent acoustic kit will run about the same it was a no brainer to me.

Desirability:
Although I would rather have all mesh heads and one of the new HH controllers that mount to a hi-hat stand, this set just looks fun. It is a little dorky when you show up for a live show, but the sounds you can get out of this thing is unbelievable on a good PA. Plus you no longer have to be carefull about drowning out other instruments, just wave at the sound engineer and let him know whats up.

Sound:
Great sounds are in this module, it's just a matter of finding them and creating your own kits. Out of the box there are 6 good kits, but with some tinkering you can have about 14 really nice yet different sounding kits. if you like to play lightly, you will find some problems with your light playing corelating to the output.

Ease of Use:
the module is great and allows for some fine tuning once you understand what sound you are looking for. When they say drummer friendly interface, they mean it. The manual does get into the meat of the product, and there are also some great online help.

Support:
Never had to deal with support excluding that tom1 issue, they pointed me to a website that wasn't even theirs. Granted I got the info I needed.

Overall:
I have had this for more than a year and expect to be playing it untill the day they pry a drumstick from my cold dead hand. If you are looking for a reasonably priced electro kit look no further. The yamaha's I have played in this same price range don't hold up as well, and I could never get the snare sounds out of them as I do with the TD6V.

"I had an old school attitude about electro drums, then I heard the TD-6 and was instantly converted!"
Feature:
I used to always want to practice at all hours of the night but couldn't, but now I if I wake up at three in the morning I can put on the headphones and go at it and never wake up anyone in the house much less in the neighborhood! Mesh heads are the only way to go for silent practice!

Quality:
Straight up! I have actually hit the face of this module with my stickes on many occasions and it is just like a Timex, it takes a sticking and keeps on ticking!

Value:
Well worth the price!

Desirability:
Like I said, except for the TD-12 or TD 20 there was no other choice! It's Roland or wait till everyone is awake! Thanks Roland!

Sound:
Bought the TD-6 to use with the electro kit I custom built and except for the wider range of sounds and kits found in the TD-12 and TD-20(This is the one I really wanted and will soon own!) you cannot find a better built, user friendly, and better sounding module! Roland knows their stuff and it shows!

Ease of Use:
I never owned a electro kit and was totaly against them until I sat behind a kit with the TD-6 module at one of the local music stores and in an instant I was converted!

Support:
Have not needed to contact support! I never read the manuel until I owned and had been playing it for months and then I was just curious, advice to you is read the manuel because I didn't realize all the amazing things it does!

Overall:
I will only replace it with the TD-20!
