Capture vocals, acoustic guitar and much more with a Neumann TLM103 large-diaphragm condenser plus a stereo matched pair of KM184 small-diaphragm condensers.

The new cornerstone of your mic closet is here: the Neumann TLM103 and KM184 studio microphone package. The TLM 103's flat frequency response delivers up-front vocals and all-around versatility. When you pair the TLM 103 with a set of matched KM 184 small-diaphragm condensers, you're ready to record just about anything. The KM 184 is renowned for its accurate, full-frequency sound and high SPL handling, making it a great choice for drum overheads as well as capturing smooth, silky acoustic tones without spending an hour on mic placement.

Bring Home the Neumann Microphones Legacy

Condenser microphones are a staple of studio and home recording, and Georg Neumann was there in the early days of music recording, making condensers whose quality quickly became legendary. This legacy of quality and consistency persists to this day, and despite the many budget-priced condenser options that are now available to the home recordist, there's still no substitute for that smooth Neumann sound. Aside from being the main vocal mic, arguably the most important microphone in your arsenal, a large-diaphragm condenser is often the best choice for acoustic guitar, drums (especially room or ambient mic positioning), or anything else you want to capture clearly and accurately, even electric guitar amps.

The TLM 103 -- Deadly Efficient, Noiseless Operation

This mic features a very low self-noise level (7 dB-A / 17.5 dB CCIR), making it possible for even the smallest signals to be reproduced read more almost noise-free. Able to handle SPL up to 138 dB without distortion, the TLM 103 boasts a dynamic range of 131 dB. The microphone keeps plosives, pops, and other unwanted noises in check, thanks to its large wire mesh headgrille, which protects the capsule. To further prevent noise from interfering with the mic's performance, the TLM 103's entire internal construction is elastically mounted. What's more, the capsule is set on an elastic mount. Since its frequency range actually reaches below 20 Hz, the lowest of low bass signals are reproduced without coloration. It's because of this low frequency extension that the TLM 103 is more sensitive to structure-borne interference and wind noise. A Neumann shockmount is included to help isolate your mic from room rumble.

TLM Technology for Optimal Operation

The "TLM" in the mic's name is short for "transformerless microphone." Transformerless means that the microphone's usual output transformer is replaced by an electronic circuit. Neumann notes that as with traditional transformers, TLM technology ensures good common mode rejection and prevents RF interference that may influence the balanced audio signal.

A Versatile Performance Mic

The TLM 103 boasts a large-diaphragm capsule with a fixed cardioid pattern that draws in sound at the front of the microphone and rejects sound from the rear. When capturing vocals, recording instruments like the acoustic guitar, doing interviews, and so forth, a cardioid mic is often the way to go. With this Neumann microphone, off-axis sounds are rendered naturally while isolation is increased.

Stereo Matched KM 184s

This package includes a matched pair of KM 184s, providing you with the most accurate and focused stereo image possible when used as a stereo pair for recording. The Neumann KM 184 cardioid small-diaphragm condenser microphone has been heralded as one of the best tools for recording acoustic guitar -- and you'll find that the applications of this mic are virtually limitless. A wide frequency response and high maximum SPL gives you incredibly clear, accurate capture. Transformerless circuitry allows for impressively low self-noise of 13 dB, and the pressure-gradient transducer provides smooth frequency response both on- and off-axis. Neumann needs no introduction -- its name and reputation speaks for itself as a world leader in recording gear, and once you track your first session with this matched pair of KM 184s, you'll know why.

The Do-Everything Pencil Condenser

The classic KM 184 works exceptionally well for tracking acoustic guitars, but you can use it anywhere you'd use a pencil mic. A high maximum SPL of 138 dB makes a pair of KM 184s a great choice for drum overheads. You can also place this mic right above your kick drum somewhat close to your snare, right in the middle of the kit to get a nice and surprisingly complete drum sound from a single mic.

Features:

- One TLM 103 microphone; two KM 184 microphones
- TLM 103 has a large wire mesh headgrille to protect diaphragm from pops and plosives
- TLM 103 is large-diaphragm for a warmer sound, KM 184s are small-diaphragm for laser accuracy
- TLM 103 and KM 184 both have a frequency range of 20 Hz to 20 kHz and max SPL of 138 dB
- Both microphones exhibit a cardioid pickup pattern
- TLM 103 comes with shockmount

Neumann microphones are the studio standard for a reason. Give your mixes the articulate vocals, crisp acoustics, and snappy drums they deserve.

Neumann Studio Microphone Package

A remarkable package that gives studios at any level a remarkable set of mics for high-quality vocal and instrument recording. The included TLM103 large diaphragm condenser mic with included shock mount, and matched pair of KM184 cardioid mics, give users the ability to record virtually any vocal or instrument with incredible clarity and that famous Neumann tonal characteristic.

Neumann TLM103 Large-Diaphragm Cardioid Condenser with Shock Mount

The TLM 103 is the ideal large-diaphragm microphone for all professional and semi-professional applications requiring the utmost in sound quality on a limited budget. The standard for home recording and the music industry, the Neumann TLM 103 is for everyone who, despite budget limitations, does not want to do without the uncompromising Neumann sound.

By utilizing the tried and true transformerless circuit found in numerous Neumann microphones, the TLM 103 features yet unattained low self-noise and the highest sound pressure level transmission. The capsule, derived from that used in the U 87, has a cardioid pattern, is acoustically well-balanced and provides extraordinary attenuation of signals from the rear.

Matched Pair of Neumann KM 184 Small-Diaphragm Cardioid Condensers

The KM 184 has become the classic high-quality miniature cardioid microphone. The KM 184 microphone is the successor of the well proven KM 84, which has been used since the 1970s worldwide with great success. The pressure gradient transducer KM 184 features very smooth frequency response not only for the 0 degrees axis, but also for lateral (off-axis) sound incidence. In typical usage, there is no coloration of sound over a wide pickup angle.
